Wonderful museum mainly in an apartment in the Art Nouveau area of Riga. It is like the family just walked out with all the furniture and decorative items just as they would have been used. Very well done and even spoke English for those of use that do not speak Latvian or Russian. This is great place to see all the decorative arts working together from furniture to wall covers, light fixtures, tableware, kitchenware, rugs, etc. all displayed as they would have been in that time period. The outside of the building is also period, and several others in the neighborhood are well worth a stroll afterward to see!

Feels like a travel in time back to the 19th century. Great way to understand more about Riga's architecture and very special features. As my girlfriend is Latvian, she was especially proud to see Latvian traditions and symbols so well represented. The staff is also very knowledgeable, interested to engage and share, and make this 1h experience special.

The Art Nouveau Museum lies at the end of Alberta iela, which is one of the best streets for viewing Riga’s large number of fantastical art nouveau buildings; admission is reasonably priced. The museum is interesting; the ground floor rooms are laid out as if in a wealthy residence with period furnishings, and in the basement there are some well thought-out interactive displays, as well as a short film about art nouveau buildings in the city.

It was a delightful visit. You can appreciate the details of art nouveau style that's over a hundred years old now, walk through the apartment of a wealthy refined family. Museum workers add to the aura with their specially crafted clothing and stories they tell. In the first room I could actually listen to a piano being played live by one of the workers.
