Initially a bit difficult to find, on the first floor of the building. Possibly more aimed at children. We were the only visitors alongside a noisy group of local children with their teacher. All of the exhibition is in Latvian, but a comprehensive book is provided with an English translation. There were no seats in the museum rooms, so we... More

It's tiny museum, but good place to visit especially if you have kids. We enjoyed learning about the sun and viewing the collection of sun figures from around the world. At the end of the tour, you can paint your own sun figure which is fun thing to do. Great place to take kids to especially on a rainy day... More

The funnest part of my visit was painting a little sun, the lady that "welcomed" us didn't really interact with us, just handed a book about the museum and told us about the tea available.

This museum is an easter egg in Riga! Local people don't even know that this museum really exists. The ticket will be three euro per person. After the tour, you will receive a small sun as souvenir, which you can even paint with colors provided there :)

I spent a good hour touring this boutique museum dedicated to all things solar. Juris, who was minding the shop that day, gave me a brief and turn me loose to revel in the private collection of over 500 suns, meticulously and caringly acquired from around the world. Are you a serious sun aficionado? Then the Sun Museum is a... More

Spent an afternoon in this museum. It is a cosy place and we were the only ones in at the time. All the displays are in Latvian, but you are handed an English guide before you walk round. This explains what each display is getting at. At the end there is a special arts and craft session to finish your... More

Basically a collection of sun sculptures and astronomic info about the Sun. In the end you're welcome to paint your own sun souvenir. As the sun is an important figure in the latvian mythology, I'd expect some information about it here as well, but unfortunately there is none. Still, nice place for a quick warm up in autumn.
