The sculpture was created by Mati Karmin and unveiled in front of the Tartu Market on 17 January 2008.The steel barrel rests on a granite base and the numbers and letters cut into the base inform the viewer that the date when the sculpture was opened, 17 January, is St Anthony’s Day when old Estonians used to turn their attention to the pig.

Whilst walking on a snowy day we turned onto the road to be faced by the bronze pig. It has quite a presence and does get your attention

Statue is close to the city centre - and one to see! It is right outside the towns independant market stalls, so be sure.togo in and support the small businesses! Mjseums are close by and so are the big corporate shopping malls, it will ve a definite point of interest to visit.

This sculpture - marked for butchering on its left side - is right outside the Tartu market, selling meat, produce, fish and breads. Very fun, good prices. Nice pig.

Well, it's nice statue of course, but I wouldn't say it's attraction per se; nor is it worth extra visit. When walking around Tartu, you may bump into it anyway. But what's more interesting - it stands in front of market building (mainly for fresh meat and veggies from farms), so certainly step in, even if you don't plan to... More

It's a nice staue of a pig. But we're not really sure why this is supposed to be an attraction. There's more and better to spentd your time on in Tartu.

The most sympathetic statue of a animal that I have ever seen. Take a look at its nose and eyes. It is like asking you: What do you think? Nec´ver underestimate a pig!

The title is self explanatory. It really is a bronze statue of a pig with a map drawn on it, how to chop a pig up.

Nothing special, just a good Bronze statue. But if You take a walking path, spent some minutes to take picture with it.
