Beautiful buildings

Beautiful pastel-painted buildings, the complex looks refined and classy. It's nice to go for a walk and admire what the city has to offer

Tartu generally has a lovely "undiscovered"feel about it - plus the slow pace of life typical of University Cities the World over. We hope that it does not lose its charm.

The Tartu Old city is smallish and most of his buildings are not older then a few hundred years. The high lights are the Town hall, which is small but has a nice style to it, the Hugo Treffner Gymnasium, which is one of the odlest buildings in the city and then the old St. Johns church next to the... This place is "Must visit" when in Tartu. Are you on long stay or short, Old Town must be visited. If you are on short stay it is even enough to have walk for about an hour through it to see main sights. Don't be lazy and take a stroll.

It's enjoyable for both adults and children. For kids there's space to run around (no cars), fountains, and it's a perfect place to take pictures with them. For grown-ups there are a lot of cafes and restaurants for every taste and preference and souvenir shops. They also hold various activities there from time to time. We got to go through... More

There are some old streets, but not many. The city square is big but not many buildings there. Maybe it would be nice to visit in summer and fall. April is pretty cold with big wind.

Had a lovely time just exploring the city with a couple of friends, the diversity of the architecture- combining old buildings with modern ones made the place feel alive.

Tartu is a town masquerading as a city, and its Old Town is accordingly modest in size. It's great for a wander though and has plenty of charm of its own, as well as a distinctly different feel to Tallinn thanks to the university and the energy its students bring to the place.
