About
Patkuli viewing platform is situated in one of the most ancient parts of Tallinn. It has fairytale views of the Old Town and its towers and walls, all the way down to the port. The stairway leading up to the platform was constructed in 1903. There are 157 steps connecting Toompea to the town below, with the stairway coming out in Toompark by the Shnelli pond.

If you climb up the hill, this is a good view point, good place to see the old town, all the red rooftops, and the big harbor with the ferry ships. Good on a sunny day.

While it's a long climb up, the view from the top is lovely.
Try to start from the hill and climb your way down towards the park.

Picture perfect view of old town and nearby harbour with cruise ships. There is another viewing area a short walk from here. If you are already on the Alexander Nevsky cathedral side then it is no great hardship to get here. If you are starting in the old town then it is up hill with a significant amount of steps. But view is worth it and you can capture the main part of the old town with towers and spires. Perfect. Nearby souvenirs around here. I went there very early so nobody there really. Wanted to see it with blue skies.

There are several viewing platforms in Tallinn, but Pakkuli is one of the most picturesque. A real photo opportunity of red rooftops, church spires and treetops. It was surprising just how green Tallinn is, with so many trees. We approached from the direction of St Mary’s Cathedral and just before the viewpoint are several tourist souvenir shops providing all sorts of gifts.

All the viewpoints are well worth going to as each gives a slightly different perspective of this gorgeous view over the lower old town across to the cruise ships. It will be busy but it’s worth it!

An uphill climb , first getting past the Nevsky cathedral then finally leading to breathtaking views of Old Town . Perfect opportunity for photo ops.

The right place to go to if you want to see something from Tallinn's old town, as much as to see a bit from the new neighborhoods of the city. It takes some effort to climb up the walls, but it's nothing that bad and I believe it's worth it.

We approached the viewing platform via a short walk down and past the Russian orthodox church, would NOT have wished to access it via a climb of multiple steps from the lower town! Nice view of the rooftops of the lower town, good 180 degree or so vista views. There was a street busker playing some music on an instrument with which we were not familiar. There is a gift shop there selling lots of items ranging from trinkets to expensive ornate Faberge recreations, with a cafe and bathroom incorporated. Definitely worth the view.

Hiked up the steps to this viewing point.. simply, it’s an amazing view of Tallinn, probably the best.

This area up on Toompea hill is incredible, this viewpoint is on north end, we found it easiest to use this viewpoint and and then tour the rest of the hill area before going down steps on south side by Cathedral.

This viewpoint shouldn’t be missed, highly recommended!
