Beautiful town square surrounded by cafe’s & restaurants but ample free seating too; afternoons it’s busy & fun
Beautiful town square surrounded by cafe’s & restaurants. Late afternoon it’s the place to be. There is ample free seating so you are not forced to overpay for coffee just to sit. Late night it’s very quiet. Surrounded by beautiful buildings too. I stayed in an apt overlooking the Town Square; loved it.

    The Crossroads Square
This is the center of the old town, an open square with lots of cafes around it. Very picturesque. Lots of tourists, so there were a lot of souvenirs shops, some of which had quality merchandise, so we bought things. If you come to the old town, you will pass through this crossroads square.

Picturesque and Lively , Its the Heart of the Old Town
The Town Square is like the heart of the Old Town. Surrounded by beautiful al- fresco restaurants on all sides, it has a very picturesque setting. The centre if square has many different types of free seating. In beautiful weather, its fun to just laze around and soak in the ambience. Many streets lead to and from this square. There's an old town hall building too which we didnt visit from inside but it has a very interesting spire.

    Beautiful
Beautiful, picturesque The Town Square is the heart of Tallinn Old Town. Very well preserved, surrounded by beautiful buildings and a lot of restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops. Could easily become very crowded, being so popular for tourists. The main building of the square is Tallinn Town Hall.

    Nice Small Enough Square
If you go to Tallinn, you will end up passing through or by the square several times during your visit as it is so central to the Old Town. The main feature in the square in the Town Hall. A hive of activity in the evening, mainly with the restaurants and their outdoor seating. For photos, I found just before sunrise the best time to go as the street lights and the flood lights are still on.

This has been an important meeting place since the Middle Ages. It has been the market place and hosted festivals, fairs, concerts and Christmas markets. There are outdoor seating areas for cafes. Buildings surrounding the cobblestone square are characterful, including the very old and impressive Town Hall. There were lots of tourists when we visited but it’s a huge space so wasn’t crowded.

All the restaurants have put tables in the square, the weather is warm. The port comes with many cruise ships and excursions in the city full. There are many restaurants in the square. There are concerts, old town days, and a Christmas fair in winter. Cars, taxis used to come here a long time ago. It's not there now. You can see a horse-drawn carriage or a steam locomotive with tourists.

This charming marketplace oozes local culture. There was soo much positive energy in this area. I stumbled across the oldest continuing running pharmacy, Raepteek, which is across the Town Hall Square. It is also a mini museum displaying antique medical tools.

If the walls were "the skin" of Tallinn's old town, the Town Hall Square was "the heart" of it. Point of Sale, place of socializing, of the most important events of the city, it has maintained its vitality for all these eight centuries. If this can be true of the squares of many other cities that have such a well-preserved old town, Tallinn is distinguished by its still intimate, local, warmly Estonian atmosphere. Glittering and illuminated in the dark days of the Nordic Estonian New Year, site of the typical Christmas market, equipped with a stage for the Midnight show, Tallinn's Town Hall Square remains the village square, of the inhabitants of Tallinn, which welcomes tourists but does not sell out to tourism.

A beautiful medieval square overrun with tourists, restaurants and bars with staff heckling you to eat or drink at their establishment. It completely ruins the atmosphere of this square. Why oh why is there an Irish pub on this medieval square?! Hideous! Take a few pics and get out of there, and escape to a back street of old town away from the hoards of tourists.

We stayed near this place so we saw it several times and sat on a bench to enjoy the sunshine. It’s one of the most beautiful main square in Europe with the Gothic town hall and other nice historic buildings. It’s very popular for tourists and local people, there are lots of restaurants, bars and cafes. It’s a must-see attraction.
