You want to get up to the upper town on the hill to get some nice views of the city. There are churches, ancient fortress walls, shops and more up there. Restrooms can be harder to find, often in the ancient cellars of shops.

This is the location you really can get the feeling of the city. I recommend go in one direction and go back in the other. One is using satires the other comes from the main square. This way you see everything.

Old Town a must see. Cobbled streets and interesting architecture. Parliament building is situated at the top of Toompea Hill

In Estonian folk legend the mighty Toompea Hill, which rises thirty metres above the rest of the city, is said to be the tumulus mound of the great King Kalev. His wife Linda erected this homage to Kalev after his death, and sitting upon it...More

You cannot visit Tallinn and not go to Toompea, the ancient citadel where the nobility lived, literally looking down on the ordinary townsfolk below. It is home to Toompea Castle (not a castle in the traditional sense and now houses the Estonian parliament), the impressive...More

Two view point places on Toompea Hill you can't miss. They are probably THE best view of the old town, port area. For better less crowded selfies, you might need to wait for a while as there are always tour groups coming and going. There...More

Toompea Hill is where the 'castle' is. Castle in the loosest term as not what I necessarily see as a castle. It also has the wonderful Russian church with minarets. Go to the edge for the most spectacular views over Tallinn. Go down the steps...More

This is a must stop spot for all visitors. Be prepared for large tour groups jockeying for position to take photographs. Be there early to avoid the crowd. The view was great. Souvenir shops and cafes lined the street.

The place is really easy to reach and the view is amazing. Screensaver indeed! It's a little windy but it's fine! Worth going there to have the view!

You get a magnificent view of the city. Watch the sunset here if you are up late on a Summer night. This is definitely a highlight of Tallinn. I can imagine the view in Winter with the snow-capped roofs across the land. Take your time...More

You could take a cab from old town and ask them to drop you at the crossroad of Toompea and Falgi Tee street. You still have to walk about 400 metres from this junction. The first 50 metres will be slightly hilly but the... More

How far is this from Old Town. We will probably walk around Old Town ourselves and see what else we can take in with the time we will have off of the ship.
