In Soviet time Hotel Viru was good enough to accommodate foreigners. It also had to be good enough for the KGB ... The museum represents a collection of the stories of two worlds. In one of them, mostly existing on paper, happy Soviet people enjoyed...more

The tour was excellently guided and extremely interesting. Our guide not only talked about the historical background but made it even more interesting by sharing stories of people who had worked there or who had been spied upon.

Found the visit really interesting as our guide Pavel was excellent. There are only 2 rooms to see but the way Pavel explained the tour was great. Enjoyed it a lot more than we expected and was a highlight of our Tallinn visit. Thanks Pavel!

Smaller than I expected but was worth a visit to read what had gone on there. Expected more to be honest.

Very little to see, actually, it is basically the tour guide talking forever about stories from back in the day. Although interesting, the anecdotes take forever and it is ultimately boring. Also, they ask you to be at the lobby 10 mins before the tour,...More

You can only visit as part of a tour and the group size is limited so it’s recommended to book ahead. There’s a desk in the hotel lobby, but if it’s not staffed you can book at the hotel desk instead. The tour lasted about...More

Had a great tour of Sokos Hotel Viru. Fascinating how KGB bugged this hotel & the was they treated staff. It’s a really interesting tour, see the ‘hidden’ hotel floor, listening devices and so much more. A little bit of fun but very interesting!!

And if the Viru desk has a stampede of Finnish tourists (doubtful since summer vacation is over but anyway), also the desk of other smaller hotel in the same lobby can book it for you.

This is an old question but may be useful for future visits. All you need to do is ring the hotel and book. They speak English so no language problems.
