The funicular to the Castle Hill is out of order. To get to the top of the hill, take a path from the side of Neris River. On top of the hill, you will find the Gediminas Castle Tower and panoramic views.

Although the funicular was closed when we visited, the steep climb up the cobbled path proved worthwhile as the 360 degree views from the summit over the city are splendid - especially on a clear day.

Went there early morning, not crowded and it was a nice climb through a park. However, there is a construction going on, and I understand the funicular train is closed. So you need to climb a wide path of cobblestone slope.

Fine view over the city. Easy to appreciate its strategic significance. Be a bit careful when walking on the stoned path.

Castle Hill looks nice from a distance and I wanted to go inside and see the views but the funicular wasn't working so I couldn't get there with a bad knee
