    Attractive old town
Vilnius old town is still very much lived in, so feels like a “real” place rather than a museum. There is plenty to see, both on the main streets but also on the side alleys. There is some very attractive architecture in various styles and plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants, shops when you need a rest from churches and museums!

    Visit to the Baltic capitals
We have walked through the entire old town today plus visited the castle & the palace. So much history here & so much to take in.. we loved it all. The restaurants are not at all expensive & the food was so good.

    Top attraction in Vilnius
Last time we have visited was in summer - in this warm season it makes Vilnius very green and the tourist long walks very comfortable, although regardless of a time of year worth visiting. The Old Town is in fact bigger than is normally described and includes a large number of places to visit: churches, historical sights, parks, shops, restaurants, bars. Will be coming back once and once again.

    Delightful
Vilnius old town is an architectural gem. There are many styles but the stand out is the Baroque period of building. It's fascinating to go from medieval to Baroque in a street and to have such a rich cultural history laid before you. Also the terrain is undulating with some steep hills which gives it an other dimension. I think Vilnius old town is nicer than Riga old town, certainly more varied, more squares and grand ensembles and also green open spaces. I think you'd need to spend a little longer in this old town than in Riga old town (which is still a lovely place).

    A Must See
Loved walking around to see the charming old town and its establishments. My visit was in December during the Christmas season so the visit was extra special. Many good shops to visit and tasty food to try! Would definitely recommend as there must be something for everyone.

    Lovely food, great value
Lovely little restaurant for lunch. We had a 2 course special menu and a glass of Georgian wine for about 12 euros per person = great value! Very clean place and nice staff. Very good value and quality of food.

Lovely old town & great local restaurant in Vilnius!
We explored the old town with a local expert, as part of an Insight Vacations 'Northern Capitals' tour. Lovely old buildings and so much history! Some of the shops are excellent for gifts etc, including amber. We had an excellent dinner at a local beer restaurant (also had other beverages) - most enjoyable!

Beautiful, full of history, highly recommend
Beautiful area to visit and admire the architecture and history. As someone else recommended, read about its culture and history before you go to give it some context. I had an overnight layover in Vilnius, so I just had a few hours to sightsee. It was a quick (about 15 minutes), easy bus ride from the airport. The bus driver let me where to get off, but I didn't know how to get into old town. I was told the Gate of Dawn was the entrance, so I was looking for something quite eye-catching, which it was not. The inside is another story. I highly recommend spending a couple of hours exploring Vilnius Old Town.

    The old town of Vilnius
An amazing place to explore. Beautiful old buildings and churches along winding streets, but also inviting courtyards and back alleys. Many stores to buy souvenirs and restaurants of all kinds. Big enough so you could easily spend all of your holiday there. Information plaques in English can be found in front of the sights, but I'm suggesting to find a guided tour or a guidebook to follow in order to learn the history.

The old town is larger than what is advertised on the street signs but the authorities are obsessed by public relations and so they announce the old town begins where the street that has neatly restored buildings, the mediocre tourist-trap cafes and restaurants and lame luxury shops (that are almost always empty) begins.
On Sunday morning which turned out to be a day during which a marathon was taking place I was at the airport and couldn't buy a ticket to the bus because the only shop that sells them at the airport was closed.
Inside the bus the driver can't/won't sell a paper ticket for one euro and there are no ticket selling machines. The only option a bewildered tourist has is to download the application of Vilnius public transport to his/her smartphone and then discover the application only accepts locally issued credit cards. So yes, the signs in English publicizing this wonderful application is for the 5,000 or so non-Lithuanian speakers who happen to also be resident in Vilnius and have a local credit card. Nirvana!
The cherry on the cake is that b cause of the marathon bus number 3G was constantly rerouted but this didn't show on Google maps which boils down to negligence on behalf of the Lithuanian Gov. who is famous for participating on ever globalist initiative so they really have no excuse...
Walking around the center I noticed a quarter to a third of the roads were being dug up. I really wonder is August (which is traditionally the month Vilnius gets the most tourists in every year) the he best time to dig up the city? Can't they wait two months when tourist numbers drop to a trickle?..

Vilnius is an absolute must to visit. We felt very safe here at all times and the people are very friendly. There’s lots to see and do, many very good restaurants and coffee shops. The pubs serve a wide variety of local ales all at a reasonable cost. Pubs are open until 5am Thurs, Fri and Sat. Overall it’s a bit cheaper than the UK (with the £ being about €1.14 on our visit). There’s places to run along the river paths and in the parks, public transport to and from the airport is very cheap (€1 by train and only 7 minutes) or a ‘Bolt’ taxi will cost you about €5. It’s very cold in the winter so bring appropriate clothing!

Vilnius Old Town is one of the largest surviving medieval old towns in Northern Europe.

There are winding cobblestone streets, picturesque churches, and other historical buildings that have striking architectural styles: gothic, renaissance, baroque, or neoclassical.

Pilies Street is the main street with many cafes and restaurants. The Cathedral Square and the Town Hall Square are the main squares.

Historic, picturesque area, cobbled streets and restaurants and cafes down every little lane. The city comes alive at night, with families out walking at 10pm. As a single woman traveller If felt extremely safe and welcomed. The city is very green with plenty of open spaces and parks and a rich history. Having never heard of the place before my work trip, I absolutely fell in love with place and highly recommend it as a place to visit.

Lovely and full of soul! So many nice to see. In the main street we only found very expensive clothing stores so we were not shopping. But very nice old architecture, charming cobbled streets, visitation and small cafes.

Very cute Old Town, some buildings look old, other have very beautiful facades. The Old Town is easily done on foot, in 2 hours you can see everything with long photo stops. I recommend to visit Vilnius in autumn it was simply beautiful and the colors of the leaves were stunning.

Compared to other capitals in Europe, it looks more a big town than a capital city, and it seems that in last centuries the regional centre used to be not here. Architectures are interesting but not impressive, on the other hand it seems that cultural life is flamboyant. Nice place.

This is another great old town. Although it does not have the compact, walled quaintness of Tallinn, it is great to walk the city streets and parks seeing the old building and beautiful gardens. This is definitely a city I could see myself living in.

Great Old Town, plenty of history. Take the free walking tour 2 1/2 hours, well worth it. Bell Tower interesting, Hill of Crosses and Gedimas Tower. Was raining on our trip - would be lovely in sunshine! Only need max 3 days in Vilnius including must see trip to Trakai Castle. Do NOT use the expensive mini bus trip about £40 each for half day. Buses run every half hour to Trakai from the Bus Station 4 eu! Walk 20 minutes through picturesque village along lakeshore to the 14th century restored castle.
