We walked over to spend some time with Frank Zappa across from the Frank Zappa square. He's in a parking lot. Hit the QR code and he'll call and chat with you! That was fun, he's like "why am I here?" Lots of local graffiti around the lot. Very casual.

Frank Zappa was a cool cat, and that's why he is honored with a bust in Vilnius. I don't reckon he knew a damn thing about Vilnius or Lithuania, but his soul and mentality would be a welcome influence in this post-Soviet society. Any promotion of such a free thinker can only be a social good in conflict with the oppressive mentality of the past.

Bit of an oddity this one. Frank Zappa never visited Lithuania. None of his songs are about Lithuania. As far as anyone knows he has no family or other links to the country.
Yet here he is, well his head anyway, mounted on a plinth in a car park on the edge of Vilnius Old Town.

Weird!

If you are a rocker you'll want to stop by. By no means on the beaten track. Vilnius has signs on lots of their corners of directions to site. Was walking, looked at sign and there it said the FZ Statue was up the way. Rather off in a way

Worth the 10 minute walk from the cathedral square. Not much there apart from the statue but nice to see

Some will love it and some will not. For us, it was a slight diversion on the way to the kgb museum so we decided to pay a visit. Yes it’s a bronze bust of Frank on a plinth in a car park but that’s the attraction. It is so random and demonstrates the power of freedom of speech following independence from the Soviet Union

The statue serves as a rebuke to the repression of the Soviet Era. He never visited Lithuania, but they celebrate his anti-establishment stance. It certainly looks like him and is in a pretty setting. I think it replaced a statue of Lenin.
But best of all, you are not obliged to listen to his awful, self-indulgent, smarty-pants music while you enjoy the sculpture. Or have to listen to some Stoner go on and on and on and on about him.

Went to see this as it was only a short walk away from my hotel and I had been a great Zappa fan in my youth. As people have said, it is a very good likeness bust on a tall pedestal. Its setting in a small car park makes the whole thing a bit surreal. Not really worth going too far out of your way for but fun all the same.

This is a must do attraction for any discerning Zappa fan. The statue is in a quiet and well kept square and there were quite a few other fans from all over Europe, 2 guys had even driven here all the way from southern Italy just to come here and in the smallest Fiat card I've ever seen.

It's not really a statue, but a bust of Frank Zappa's head on top of a tall pole. I went because it was there and thought it unusual. However a 30 second look and it's time to move on. I don't recommend making a special detour to see it.
