If you like such places and have some free time in Vilnius, you might try to find this cemetery. They say it's *perhaps the most attractive and romantic cemetery in Vilnius*. Haven't seen others, but this one looks peaceful and quite interesting. And as it was raining like hell that day, we enjoyed the atmosphere a lot :)

A pretty and historic Polish cemetery about 10 minutes walk from the main square in Uzupis, this is worth visiting. It is quite well maintained with an attractive element of being overgrown. The graves are very diverse and worth reading. Some of the interments are really quite recent.
It is a peaceful walk and a good place to reflect when you can see the busy motorway in the distance.

If your are walking around at Uzupis then spend 10 minutes in order to take some photos in this very old and strange cemetery. Free of charge.

Bernardinai cemetery is a very quiet place, somewhat away from main tourist attractions and as it is closed for burials now, there are very few visitors to walk there in peace and quiet. Whether it is worth to visit for tourists? Probably only in case one likes to visit old cemeteries, is interested in sepulchral art (not many of that left undamaged) or just enjoys eerie atmosphere of abandoned cemeteries, then yes. Otherwise, if not specifically interested in local history and specific resting places of several important cultural figures of Vilnius then one can easily skip it. The cemetery is easiest to reach when visiting Uzupis or staying in this district.

I like how it is on a slope with some variation and randomness to it. Historic graves with lots of Polish names on them. Good for photography as the sun is setting.

We were adopted by a cat as soon as we entered the cemetery, we nicknamed him Stan, short for Stanislav as he kept stopping at the Polish graves. There are many Poles buried here, fascinating to see the history of the city through the headstones. Really interesting place to visit especially if you like to go to cemeteries, which I do. See photo of Stan.

If you like historic cemeteries, you will also like this one. You will discover lots of old Polish graves as well as family memorials that demonstrate how some Polish families became Lithuanian after some time of assimilation. Oh, and there are quite a few persons who had the first name 'Napoleon'...

We did not go for the guided tour. We did some reading about it beforehand and then walked through on our own one afternoon as it was only about a 5 minute walk from where we were staying. We found that was an interesting afternoon and well worth the time we spent there.

Along with Raso Kapines, this is another lovely cemetery to visit with unique grave markers and a place of solitude. This is one of the oldest cemeteries in Vilnius.

The cemetery is well worth the walk from Uzupis up the steep hill, and is on the right after the big building site. It is a beautiful cemetery and gives great views over the river to the old ruined church on the other side. A place for peace and tranquility.
