Bastion

This is a great bastion, or city defense wall. It's nicely preserved and restored where necessary. Certainly worth a visit while in Vilnius!

Great large bastion along what was the city wall of Vilnius. The bastion is in a very large park on the edge of the old town and has many paths through out the park. The bastion overlooks the Vilnia River.

It is a museum that you can visit, but it is also a great place to just walk around and you get a chance to see the part of the city wall. There is a good view of the old town also and you can then walk down the hill to visit a number of sites close by.

The Bastion was recently reconstructed and was part of the defensive wall of Vilnius. It is nice to take a walk around and look the panorama over the city and the Three Crosses monument in the near hill. Nothing very special here but deserves a visit if you have time. You can visit it by a short detour from Ausros... More

It is a beautiful place, but if you are in a hurry, don't waste your time on it, you can visit it when you have plenty of time. I think Vilnius city council has to give some new life to this place, it seems sadly abandoned.

Without any doubt one of the must see of the city. Renewed but in full respect of the old style. Not easy to be found, it worths the difficulties!

The views were mainly of the abandoned building next to it, the information and displays were limited. It was only €1 (student) to get into though.

The bastion and the wall was built to defend Vilnius. Unfortunately I was not able to get inside, but walking around the wall, looking at everything from the outside, was still interesting.

The bastion was built to defend Vilnius eastern side against attacks as Vilnius had a long history of warfare. The area is surrounded by a nice park which appeared to be popular with locals. The bastion itself was closed.

It is worth to walk a few steps from the corner of "Didžioji", "Subačiaus" and "Aušros vartų" streets. Bastion is a Renaissance defensive installation of the original construction. It consists of a tower, installed in the defensive city wall, horseshoe-shape underground cannon premises, and a corridor connecting them – a tunnel of 48 meters. The purpose of the Bastion was...
