This is a must see as you leave the amber museum and make your way towards the beach! There’s a large storyboard and you can walk to the top of the hill!

Enjoy!

A place that has had a long and deep spiritual history for this land with a beautiful but simple chapel on top. Ok views. Ok moments of peace. Some great photo ops.

At the bottom of Birute's hill there is a Grotto - the place where St. Mary appeared to St. Bernardine. And on the top there is a small chapel. Also you can see a wonderful view of the Baltic sea. You definitely should visit this hill, if you already came to Birute's park.

A place were ever burning fire was under pagan sacred place.
But later on christians conquered the area, and build a small chapel on it, of course.
Still, it is sacred place for balts, balts religion too.

There's a chapel at the top of the hill, which was locked but you can peek inside. It's quite a hike to the top but worth it if you want some exercise.

Birutė (died 1382) was the second wife of Kęstutis, Grand Duke of Lithuania, and mother of Vytautas the Great. Little is known about Birutė’s life, but after her death a strong cult developed among Lithuanians. Birutė was a priestess who served Pagan gods, suggesting that a marriage to a pagan duchess rather than to an Orthodox duchess from Slavic lands helped to with pagan Lithuania support. Circumstances surrounding her death are unknown.

In 1989 archeologists discovered evidence of a pagan observatory, which had existed on Birutė Hill in the late 1300s, likely built in her honor. To discourage people from worshiping pagan gods and her grave, the Saint George chapel was built atop the hill in 1506. It was rebuilt in 1869 and survives today. It is the highest dune of Palanga on the Baltic Seashore and is part of the Palanga Botanical Garden, which combine to make it a tremendous tourist draw. The surrounding forest and distant Baltic Sea make for a pleasant afternoon.

This is a really nice and calm place in Palanga, with the Amber museum. There's an extensive rose garden to go through as well

Lovely grotto located in Birute's Park. It shows when the virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadine. It is a nice place to go for meditation and prayer.
