This was my main reason to go to Klaipeda. The Curonian Spit is part of UNESCO heritage, and offers amazing and breathtaking views: dunes, forest and the village of Nida. During Summer (May/Sep), there are plenty of ferries crossing this bit of sea (15min, 3...More

Very very beautiful place by the sea. Including forest, beaches and seaside, and all is a nature reserve. Good place for a day walk, picknik or a stay during summer season.

Beautiful sands and sea with some added side attractions worth visiting such as the Hill of Witches with its many wood carvings. Think I would prefer to be here in mid to low season rather than accompanied by bus loads of tourists. That said it's...More

Oh man, I loved this place! We got the bus from Klaipeda onto the ferry and down to Pervalka where we had rented an apartment. Getting there from Klaipeda was easy, quick and cheap. We hired bikes from a place in Pervalka and spent the...More

The place is great if you enjoy a looooong bike ride. Rode for about 3 hours and made it back to the ferry terminal before the rain caught us. View was not as spectacular as people praised but still worth visiting if you came all...More

A 10 minute cheap ferry ride takes you across to the split. It's a beautiful drive through pine forests to get to Nida. There's plenty of outdoor activities, lovely long beach with changing huts, and miles of paved bike paths.

Like others have written you need to take a short ferry across to the island and then ride a bus to the other side. It's a beautiful island with great amenities like foods and bars. Lots of places to rent bikes too. The walking trails...More

Would say it is one of the world miracles... Nature, historical villages, and the Spit. Best place to rest in Lithuania. From cosy small restaurants to great views, bicycle roads and off course to one of the greatest sea beach.

This is my favourite part of Lithuania. Stunning beauty with nature at its best. We have rented some bicycles and rode around in between pine forests, stopped in most incredible secluded and human free beaches for a dip in a hot day, had some fantastic...More

We spent just one day here, but it has been one of the best days of our 9 weeks in Europe so far. Short ferry trip <10 mins from Klaipeda, 11.85 euros for two people and car (including return trip) - everything else was free...More

I agree with Jon: Villages are accesible. You can enjoy plenty of places just by car and I am almost sure that The observatory of the big rolling sand dune of Parnidis is also accesible at least as far as the sundial (there... More

Helen, we were there on a cruise 2 years ago and wanted to do exactly what you describe. However, after much research, we decided to rent a car and make the drive ourselves, which turned out to be a great decision. We rented... More

There are two crossing points to the Spit. I suspect your ship will moor at the little ferry crossing (no cars). The public transport buses cross from the main terminal and larger ferry crossing point. Bus travel is in... More
