When walking around the old town of Kaunas, it is well worth visiting Kaunas Castle. It is situated in a lovely pleasant spot and when we visited there were plenty of families and happy children.

Beautiful historical site in the heart of Kaunas old town. Some cultural events are helding here in summer and spring. A nice place to have a walk here as it situated near the river and there is a park nearby.
What there is of Kaunas Castle ruin is well maintained, although there really isn’t much to see compared to most other castles we’ve visited.

I really enjoyed walking around the site - plenty of nice architecture, green spaces, people just having family time. Also great place for photos and finding little hidden gems. The castles itself looks great and the rehabilitation seems to have been done quite well.
We found this was a recommended thing to see whilst in Kaunas, so we thought we would check it out. The weather was good so we walked around the grounds, sadly it was closed on a Monday, so we couldn't go in, but in fairness...More
