Many of the buildings are new but they have been built to fit in perfectly well with surrounding older buildings to the extent it is very difficult to define which is which

Wandered through the area a couple of times. Most restaurants were open and looked busy on a winter Sunday pm. The cathedral and church of St George of particular interest.

Walking in the old town of Kaunas is really nice, you can do some shopping there, take a coffee or get some lunch/dinner. Really agreable atmosphere, beautiful buildings

I begin from the end of Laisves al. and go to the old Kaunas through Kibinine, where I have eat Kibinai with meat and species and driked light beer. Very tasty!

Nice narrow streets with renaissance architecture but still much more live in summer time due restaurant gardens and bigger number of people, otherwise still sad postcommunistic atmosphere...

A lovely part of kaunas. Seemingly unspoilt compared to other areas of the town. Nice to wander through . Many shops , bars and restaurants to stop in.

Unlike many old towns in European cities Kaunas is pretty much unspoilt. There are not currently tourist shops on every corner nor beggars "in your face" everywhere you turn.
