The fort is well worth a visit. Was interesting and very well out together. It definitely told the story of Lithuania through history. It was tipping down with rain while we were there and still would recommend it. Just remember a jacket..the first gets chilly.

My wife and I took the Holocaust tour at the Ninth Fort. It was a great deal as it only cost 5 Euros and we were the only ones on the tour. The tour lasted about an hour. The first 20 minutes or so covered...More

One of the most interesting spot not only in Kaunas, but in Lithuania at all. If you are travelling by car from Vilnius to seaside, you should add this museum to your plans. Museum is closed on Mondays. But you can walk in teritory. The...More

There are two main exhibition buildings. The signage and directions are quite poor and misleading. However, the exhibits in the ninth fort building more than make up for it. Very sad place. Has exhibits showing the early uses of fort nine as a military fortress...More

Bus 57 stop names 9th Fort drops you off in the middle of nowhere. You would need to take a 20 minute walk alongside a road with no path, this was incredibly dangerous so we turned back, an absolute disgrace that the public transport authority...More

Our hotel organised the taxi for us here, tickets are reasonable and a guided tour in English cost an extra euro. As its name suggests this fort was one of nine forming a defensive ring around Kaunas and in particular the junction in the river....More

This fort was built in 1913 and used for various types of occupation over the years, most of them horrific. It's a very dramatic building to visit and you can easily imagine the hardships suffered. The mass murder site is very sad and the monument...More

why i say a sweeping flavor in the air. because the skulbuter standing in the ninth forte is unrealistic!!!. Far away, it seems frightening and big. and when I come to closer, the basics of what is pictured on the sculpture is strange and beautiful...More

Just go there to walk in the spacious park area, to see the monument and the fort from the outside. Keep the words freedom and independence in mind when you are there.

There was no cafe when we went last year. Take a couple of snacks and some water with you. You could easily spend anywhere between 3-5 hours there.
