    Cozy small lovely Old Towh
Bratislava Old Town is lovely with many restaurants, cafes & souvenir shops. It’s only a couple of blocks long, so can be visited within 2-3 hours. Perfect for day trips of one-night stay before moving on. Be aware that some restaurants/ shops only take cash payment - not credit card. The Bratislava castle is next to it uphill as well.

    A Must
I visited in May 2023. The medieval Old Town is a must as is the Slavin Monument. The city has good train connections from the main train station to elsewhere in the country and elsewhere. The castle has been rebuilt in the last few years. The castle grounds are free but give a good viewing point over the Old Town. A viewing platform between the castle and modern city hall gives a good view of the Danube.

A pleasant few hours in a lovely place.
We only stopped here for a few hours but many of us on our escorted tour commented on how much we enjoyed it. I particularly enjoyed the variety of statues. There are many interesting buildings to wander round and admire. There are also some lovely little shops with a great choice of unusual things, and nice places to eat. A most pleasant time in a lovely place.

    Well preserved area
Large old town area with mostly well maintained buildings. Pedestrian cobblestone streets lined with old palaces, shops and restaurants. Interesting area to spend time walking around

    Visit of bratislava
Visited Bratislava as a part of private day trip from Vienna. The old town is very cool. Loved to walk in narrow streets, friendly for family. Appreciate the clearness. Worth to visit.

    Fantastic old town
We decided to visit Bratislava on a weekend trip to Vienna, we went direct from Vienna Airport which took around 40 minutes. It is well worth a visit as the old town is excellent, it is small compared to most european capitals and is really quaint. We thoroughly enjoyed our few hours in the old town of Bratislava.

Try to see this area at least once.
Beautiful pedestrianised area of Bratislava. I visited here in 2021. I was staying at the Ibis Hotel near the castle on the tram route ,( forgotten the tram lines numbers) I was exploring and decided to visit the old town and Bratislava in my opinion is a business city and so the old town is a place to visit for authentic architecture, and outside eateries and hub of activity especially in the summer months ! I had a meal at an outside restaurant but was kind of disappointed in it so went to look at the town. Lots and lots of people at nightime and many head to a beautiful park near the centre, (sorry forgotten the name of the park but you cannot miss it) I go to the town by walking down the steps from near to the hotel I was staying in. I think walk down the steps and come back on the tram is the best option if a little more convoluted.... I would recommend anyone to go here and it seems a safe area to walk around with many places to eat and shops to visit, but in some ways it is similar to Old Town in Prague, if you are not careful you can be ripped off, choose where to eat carefully unless you are a millionaire! Lol

A thoroughly enjoyable tour and guide
This 2 1/2 hr tour was excellent. Our guide Roman was proud of his culture and eager to share it in the most respectful of ways. He was very knowledgeable, tastefully humorous, and clearly spoken. He frequently asked for questions and answered them all in expert fashion. We really enjoyed his education in local cuisine (pictures and pronunciations included). We then ate these recommendations at the local restaurants. Yum! Highly recommend this company and our guide Roman.

    Enjoyable
Bratislava has a walkable Old Town with cobble streets lined with nice shops, cafes, various bars and of course souvenir shops. The funny statues on the street corners are unique. St Martin’s Cathedral is beautiful. We had a nice visit.

    Exceeded expectations
Loved it. None of the individual spots seemed particularly iconic when planning a trip here, but they are so close together it creates a really tight little environment with a very historic feel - much less full on than Vienna say. Lots of decent tat shops, and decent deals on food and drink too. A pleasant surprise.

My husband and I bought same day train tickets to Bratislava at the OBB ticket office at Wien HBF (Central Station) for 36 Euros same day return for the both of us. The Regio Jet bus alternative cost 37.80 Euros same day return, but they are timed tickets (which means you can't come back earlier, or if you miss your bus time, you'll have to buy another ticket; see attached photo). The OBB train is flexible, you may catch any train returning to Vienna on the same day; plus, the Bratislava public transportation was free with our train ticket. I attached pictures of the train, Bratislava train station and some of the Old Town. Bratislava Old Town is small, easily walkable and could be done in a couple of hours, unless you spend time at a local restaurant. About the train station, (don't go towards the front doors) you have to walk down to the long wide tunnel (underneath the train tracks), go up and cross the street to the bus stop to catch the bus for the Old Town. You return to the train station doing the same in reverse. We were always quick to ask for directions and people were helpful.

In two words the city is overrated and overpriced.
Went there for a 1 day trip from Budapest and its very disappointing.
Not much to see/do and everything is expensive as compared to other big/major cities.

I liked the country. They work for a living, and that is refreshing to see. Bratislava, Old Town that is, is worth a day trip. I really liked the people.

It is very easy to walk around this small, pedestrian-friendly old town. Many sites such as the theatre, Michael's Gate, the sewer worker statue, and the Primate's Palace are all close by, as are many shops and restaurants. When we went, there were lovely Christmas decorations and some nice Christmas markets with great food and beverages. This can easily be explored as a day trip from Vienna though we stayed overnight.

This is really a lovely part of the city and deserves a lot of praise. I have seen many old towns and this one is one of the best. It’s full of character, and interesting sights and buildings.

I have to say after walking just 20 minutes I counted 14 gelatos. All busy!

Just a lovely place to explore and enjoy.

Just a nice area to walk around with lovely buildings and lots of shops. We were on a Viking cruise and it was a short walk away.

Got absolutely taken to the cleaners by a cab charging us 30 euros to go from the train station for the Old Town. Ironically, was 6 euros half way back to the train station - just shows how much we were hosed. Karma . . . In any case, the old buildings are so pretty. Restaurants and cafes cater more to tourists but still fairly tasty. Tourist information there.

Visited a pub/brewery/restraunt called ALZBETKA. It is outside the old town, just a few metres from The Slovak Bar and The KGB Pub. Very authentic place, beer was fabulous (I tried them all) and the food was amazing. Went back again, and then next night again. Very good value, if in Bratislava again I will return there.

Bratislava is good base to see the old town as well as build in trips to Budapest and Vienna. We took trips by coach (Vienna day return €16, Budapest 48hr return €33).
Bratislava itself has nice restaurants and bars and some churches and the castle worth seeing ( make sure you visit the Blue Church). The open top bus/ mini train rides are not up to much so better off just buying the tickets for bus/tram at €4.80 per 24hrs. You can buy these at the yellow boxes next to main stops - credit card or cash.
If you are looking for traditional Slovak food there are plenty of choices.
One recommendation is Grand Cru - a tutored wine tasting experience in the old town and No 1 event listed in Bratislava. Go there intending to relax and enjoy nice wine! We probably drank 2 bottles of mixed wines and it was €36.
