This is a MUST for visiting Szeged. The Synagogue has beautiful architecture and is photogenic from all sides. The inside is dazzling with blue and gold everywhere. The motifs are easily recognizable scenes from the Torah and Pentateuch. I could have sat and stared at...More

While in Szeged we had the opportunity to visit this Synagogue. The place is beautifully appointed lots of marble and stained glass. We were told that in its heydays this would seat some 1000 people. This definitely true because this place is huge. Well worth...More

The building has been beautifully renovated but work continues on exterior landscaping and the interior is off-limits currently (as of 8/29/2017). Might be open mid-Sept, and should be worth getting into.

It is a must-see. An amazing building with impressive size. It is currently under refurbishment but still well worth a visit. You can attend concerts here too.

Szeged synagogue is the first synagogue that I ever visit. Outside there are renovations, but I could enter inside and all was amazing. The tax is cheap.

This time it wasn't possible to enter because there are renovation works in progress, but they should be done by summer, and the building was superb earlier, can only imagine what it'll be after renovations...

The Szeged synagouge rivals Budapest's Dohanyi synagouge as the country's most beautiful. There is often an enthusiastic member of the congregation onsite to provide insight about the history of the building an the community.
