Szeged synagogue is the first synagogue that I ever visit. Outside there are renovations, but I could enter inside and all was amazing. The tax is cheap.

This time it wasn't possible to enter because there are renovation works in progress, but they should be done by summer, and the building was superb earlier, can only imagine what it'll be after renovations...

The Szeged synagouge rivals Budapest's Dohanyi synagouge as the country's most beautiful. There is often an enthusiastic member of the congregation onsite to provide insight about the history of the building an the community.

This is an Art Nouveau masterpiece. It.is undergoing renovation. At the time of our visit (Oct 2016) it was entirety surrounded by scaffolding and the interior was not accessible either. So if you are making a special trip to see it, check first.

Like most other buildings in Szeged, this is a relatively new building, erected in 1907. The synagogue of Szeged is probably the most beautiful one I've ever seen. It is not hard to find and I suggest to ask for guide because the building has a long history what worth to learn.

You have to go knock on the door of a flat around the corner for the entrance. It is a bit tricky to make contact with the right person but generally people in the neighborhood can help you find the right person who can open the doors for you. It is definitely worth the trouble because the inside is breathtaking.... More
