We bought a ticket, not just to the basilica but to also see the treasury, go up to the cupola, the panoramic room and the crypt. I enjoyed every aspect of all of it. Being able to walk around the outside of the copula was great. Fantastic view of the Danuabe on one side and the town and countryside on... More

Larger than the Basillica in Budapest. All of the special occasion Masses are held here (not in Budapest) The Treasury has fabulous items on display, but none of the descriptions are in English. You can view bullet holes in some of the paintings in the sanctuary. They have been preserved from WW II Alter has the largest water color picture... More

Imposing Cathedral standing overlooking the surrounding area. Artwork and history inside was well worth the trip. For the fitter people u can walk up to the Dome but it's a lot of steps but the view is breathtaking

This church is truly amazing. You can visit everything from bottom to top, all the towers, small exhibitions and the crypt. There are many steps so be prepared. It is an amazing building, I felt extremely small standing next to it, the views from the top are breathtaking. I would go there again and again.

I never knew much about this Cathedral so when I went there, I was absolutely astonished. The architecture is very pleasing but the inside is where it shines with wonderful features. I was told that in days gone by, Esztergom was the Capital of Hungary but now of course it is Buda and Pest, more commonly known as simply Budapest.... More

Probably one of the most important historic sites in Europe, that have been left to the history book. Go find the inspiring stories, and see this amazing church and it's beautiful surroundings.

The church itself is beautiful and the fact that it is over 1000 years old is amazing. If you decide to go up to the dome, be forewarned. It's a long trip up and down and safety does not appear to be of any great concern. The view is fantastic but not sure about the effort to see it.

We planned travel with kids to Bratislava and Budapest and instead of taking the usual route, we took a turn from highway to Esztergom. It's just at a border to Slovakia. When you're approaching from Slovakia (Sturovo), the basilica dominates the area from afar due to its position on the hill, but also due to its size. It was good... More

This is the first capital of Hungary. St. Stephen from Budapest ruled from here. These are the woods where he hunted. The cathedral was destroyed several times, like most major buildings in Hungary. The current form was patterned after St. Petr's in Rome. The dome is the tallest and largest in Hungary. The best is out back where you have... More
