Interesting history and impressive reivews

Great views of the city from the ramparts. Most of the castle itself was destroyed by the hapsburgs, but the walls still stand, as does the base of the cathedral. The guided... read more

It has museums inside and a lot of good programs. Under 6 free to go. After opening times you can go in just to walk around for 800 HUF.

The castle itself and the history is an important part in the history of eger abd hungary. The staff do not speak english and no one proposed any english devise. We had a presentation going underground but not in english.

This is a mounting castle over looking Eger. The fee is 1600HUF each. A nice castle but for the money you're not really getting anything for it except walk along the grounds and the walls of the castle. The wax museum was a little freaky, although did come here in the winter and only 6 people around so didn't go... More

I the beginning we thought it will be just a walk over the walls of the castle. Then, at the ticket booth we were told that the price includes a number of guided tours and entrance to the current exhibitions (2nd world war -aero). Both us and the kids enjoyed the journey for different reasons. Tour guide speaks in Hungarian... More

Within the castle you could visit several different museums, like the history of the castle and the wax museum or the system of cellars and each of them are interesting. But if you rather stay outside or are just looking for a stroll and want to take pictures of the city from above it is great to walk along the... More

It is ridiculous.. you can walk around the castle wall, than you have to pay to go to the castle garden where you can find some canons and grass, then you have to pay to go in the castle to see the panopticon which was ridiculous. Sooo boooring...

Great views of the city from the ramparts. Most of the castle itself was destroyed by the hapsburgs, but the walls still stand, as does the base of the cathedral. The guided tour to the underpassages of the castle was well worth it and impressive. Also learned about the story/movie made about the seige 'under the crescent moon'.

My last visit was 30 years ago and I have been talking about it ever since. Did it live up to m memories? Sadly No. while they are renovating the castle and improving the exhibits I feel that it has lost its medieval charm. It's very clinical now and very sparse. There Are different exhibits in different buildings and it... More

We lived the castle. It has a wonderful view of the city. Not all of the exhibits are in English which is understandable. Our main issue is after paying admission they have a bunch of microadmission places to see a lot of the area. With that being said, you can't come here without already seeing the compound. If you are... More
