- RickyRedbridge, United Kingdom26 contributionsThe Danube Waltz Jules Verne cruiseSpent 8 days cruising the Danube fulfilling a dream. Arrived in Vienna and cruised to Slovakia and Hungary . Went with Jules Verne and was not disappointed. Food on board ship was excellent, staff friendly, all tours were included and so were the alcoholic drinks and entertainment . Was disappointed with the French balcony, wish it was a balcony that we could have sat on. Cabin rooms were spacious with good climate control in the room , a safe and a hair dryer. No iron so take one. Daily cleaning service was excellent. Toiletries and towels were given to us however the shower cubicle was very uncomfortable as it was small. We had an excellent Rep who looked after us throughout the trip. Liked that we had personal headphones to hear the guides on the various site seeing excursions, saved having to run to the front to keep up with them.My only criticism is breakfast was chaos . There wasn’t any hot water jugs for tea making on each table so there were very long ques for the hot water of which there were only 2 jugs at the main table. Also cabin pillows needed replacing as too soft to support back and side sleepers. Otherwise fantastic trip spent on the Danube .Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 22 September 2023
- Cruiser7706147 contributionsInterestingThis was our first cruise and we had no great expectations. Food was good but not exceptional, I can cook as well.Service was very good with nothing too much trouble. We sailed at night except for one day trip through the Iron gate. This was a bit disappointing. Trips off the boat were mainly long bus trips for 2 to 3 hour visit. The visits were however really worthwhile..visit local house , concert in cathedral etc. We were in room 336 and some nights the travelling was noisy and bumpy. I have since been told try to get closer to bow. We have decided we are better free travellers than cruisers, but some people love cruisingVisited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 September 2023
- CabanaWomanShreveport, Louisiana233 contributionsMagnificent viewsThe best way to see the magnificence and differences of Buda and Pest is from the Danube. Luckily we were able to be aboard a ship during the St. Stephen's Day Celebration and fireworks show. Costing more than 4 million Euro, with music and narration, it showed off the best of the city to the 2 million watching along the river. WOW!Visited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 25 October 2023

Couldn't tell you which company as it was organised by our Tour Manager. I would put a cruise on the Danube in the must do category if you are visiting Budapest.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 November 2023

Almost 3000 km in length it connects 10 European countries and even more if you add its tributaries. - MadsThirsgaardCopenhagen, Denmark340 contributionsA must!I guess the route is pretty similar for all cruises, so we were happy to use Duna Cruises. If you only have one day i Budapest, I would definitely take a cruise with Duna. Friendly staff, complimentary sparkling wine (don't know if we were just lucky), comfortable seats and cheap prices.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 January 2024
- MTKPC91Lexington, Massachusetts108 contributionsFirst Viking Cruise was ComfortableWe took a Viking River Cruise mid September until Early October. We also tacked on 3 days in Prague before hand. It was our first time on Viking. What we liked. The boat and accommodations were incredibly comfortable and clean. The food was very good. We liked that the wines were local. Although the other passengers tended to be about 5 - 10 years older than us, they were an active older group and very friendly. It was my 60th birthday and they made a fuss over me at dinner that night. The day tours were interesting and well led. I did not feel nickled and dimed at all. The ship was full but we never felt crowded. What we didn't like. All the tables are for 4 or 6 or 8. So for us, who are introverts and would have liked one or two meals alone, this was a little less relaxing than I would have liked. While we enjoyed getting to know other people, it also exposed us to more people. By the end of the cruise, many, many people had covid. We got it on the last day. Be prepared for itinerary changes based on water levels. I didn't think this would be an issue in late September but it was. We ended up in a small port where there wasn't much to do. And the staff didn't seem to know anything about it either. Eventually we found a very unique modern art museum, which was a treat. What made the cruise was the warmth of the other passengers and how comfortable the cabin and features were. I would go on another one in a more exotic locale.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 March 2024

We were really looking forward to our cruise in late August. However, we had to cancel 120 days in advance to avoid a 20% Penalty, that would continue to increase. Viking refused to extend the cancellation date, but offered a voucher credit of 125% if we booked a later cruise. For various reasons, we decided to cancel. We were then told that we should not expect our refund for at about 45 dates, or mid-June. This is unreasonable. Buyer Beware!

The monuments are more impressive from the water, especially after dark, so we chose an evening cruise. We choose a cruise with drinks only (there is option with food) and we really enjoyed the 1 hour evening cruise. We prefered to dress with coats in order to be able to sit on the deck (outside) and take a lot of photos. Excellent experience, do not miss it. If you choose a cruise with dinner, please note that you will see all the monuments (especially the Parliament) at the first 10 min., therefore, first go outside and take photos, and then return inside, to enjoy your dinner.

It was interesting experience as this was my first river cruise of more than a few hours. Also of interest was the excellent service and attention to detail of the daily outings at the different ports. On the whole the days were spent with morning then afternoon tours with sailing mainly at nights. The evenings always were concluded with local shows and were quite entertaining. It really felt like being with a family as with 140 guests it was possible to rotate at dinner time and meet the other guests.

Dear Veena World Family,
We would like to thank you for this Wonderful Trip to 4 East European Countries.
It was a Awesome tour for me and my family and our 9 friends (12 of us travelling together). It will be more precise to give my feedback on various parameters and then come down to things in detail:
I have rated 12 attributes of my Veena World Tour on a 5 Point Scale.

Shweta, Amar and Sharvari and Sukesh from Vashi office were very helpful and responsive.
Vivek Kochrekar Tour Manager : The way he got connected almost a week back, sending Travel Tips on Packing the bags, Do's and Don'ts, things to carry, keeping space in bags, time and date of arrival at the Mumbai Airport. My Kid knew the time, location and date of reporting by heart as i use to make her read the whats app messages. He called us, reverted to queries of my tour members during his on going tour to Uzbekistan.
For everything planned, we had whats app messages apart from telling us personal in the bus, in the lobby and at Airport. Wake Up calls were on time.
Every meal we had, he came to us and said Bon Appetite before he has his food... The personal touch, attention to detail, the passion and that every lasting smile on his face gives so much positivity. He has set and maintained such high standards of on tour service.
One Line to explain for our Dear Vivek Kochrekar : "It's Difficult To Improve On Perfection".
Now that lead to a question, do we get something same or similar tours managers in our next trips with Veena World ???
In conclusion, I will say that we really enjoyed the Veena World Europe Tour and would recommend Veena World for Group Tours. We will certainly travel by Veena World on our future tours.

We wanted to cruise the Danube during daylight hours and also at night so this was our inexpensive daytime cruise. We walked to Boraros Ter from our hotel near Kelvin Ter along the banks of the river and bought our ferry ticket from the tram stop just south of the ferry terminal. The full adult ticket was 750 Ft per person, about Australian $3.35. We also bought a block of 10 tickets valid on the tram network for 3000 Ft. The commuter ferry was mostly full of tourists and goes under the Liberty Bridge, past Gellert Hotel with the thermal baths, Liberty Statue on top of Liberty Hill, under Erzebet Bridge & Chain Bridge, past Parliament House and then goes under Margrit Bridge where we got off. You could go further to Margrit Island, a great place for a walk which we could not include. We took Tram 2 to Fovam Ter so that we could go to the market. A fine inexpensive cruise experience, recommend highly.

The Danube isn't blue, as one might expect, but it is a living thing. Living by the Danube, on both the Buda side and the Pest side, I was constantly drawn to it. During the COVID-19 pandemic, standing at the Danube was consoling. The freedom of this, Europe's second-longest river, gave me hope.
The river changes daily, and even hourly. There is a reason Strauss named his famous piece after this river: its beauty, liveliness and even, yes, flirtatiousness, never ceased to charm me. His piece captures her (I am sure this river is female) personality.

The river is just a short walk from the city centre and you can be there in less than 10 minutes. If you want a bus, the 16 stop is at Deak Ferenc Ter, outside the Ritz Carlton. You can take boat rides along the river, walk the banks of take the number 2 tram which travels part of the length on the Pest side. Most of the key sights are visible from the Danube and it takes on a totally differant, almost magical atmosphere at night

Lovely river cruise along the Danube, we visited in Feb 20 - it was not busy so had excellent seats and the views were stunning. We sailed on the 4.30 boat trip which starts in the afternoon daylight and turns to dusk and then night in the 1 hour and 15 min trip - we really liked the changes in lighting. Commentary is given on board of the history and the buildings. Really lovely trip.

We just got back from my trip down the Danube. Had I done this trip before I had the Rhine river cruise I would never do a Viking cruise again. I felt they deceived us by letting us think we were going to go to Germany, knowing that the river was too low for the ship to make it through. They knew ahead of time, but didn’t let us know until the last minute. The excursions in Budapest and Vienna were absolutely the worst. They dumped you off in a church bazaar where it was too hot and not a drop of shade anywhere. And Vienna, they took you to an outdoor tourist shopping Mart, and made you ride the subway. It was horrific. On the days that we were supposed to go to Germany, and the boat would not get us there. They acted like that was a big surprise that they didn’t have any idea the river was too low for them to go through so you spent an hour and a half being bussed to this place in Germany, which was the best place that we went to on this trip. Then gave you about an hour and a half walking trip and then bust you back to the ship for another hour and a half trip on the bus.
Anyway, I would not recommend this cruise ever to anybody which is sad because I think they could’ve handled it better and been a lot more honest with everybody
The food was not really that great, and the service in the dining room was not great either. But the bar area had the white staff and the employees were great.

We booked a cruise down the Danube scheduled for August 2020. When the coronavirus shut down all travel we requested a refund of over $9000. They told us multiple times over a period of 4 months that our refund was on the way. We have never received it and each time we call they tell us we should get it within the week. Something is terribly amiss and I suspect they are going out of business so be forewarned if you book anything!

Written 19 October 2023
We mostly used credit cards. Just even cash for public toilets, any cash tips, small purchases, museum entrances, etc. We took 200 Euros and had some left over.

We went at the end of April - first of May and there were no disruptions. Anytime after that, you would have to ask the cruise line as I would not know past the first of May.
