Neighbourhood: District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.

One of the best statue's in the city is Statue Of St Stephen up on Fisherman's Bastion.
St Stephen Statue depicts the first king of Hungary sat astride his war horse wearing the Hungarian crown and coronation mantle ,this was the king who United the various tribes of the Magyar's and established Christianity .
This very impressive statue was erected in 1906 ,the work of sculptor Alajos Stróbl,it's a very photogenic statue ,if you're up on Fisherman's Bastion it's a statue to most definitely check out .

Situated in a truly beautiful area surrounded by the majestic Matthias church and Fisherman's bastion, this amazing statue sits proudly in the St Stephen's square and doesn't look out of place.
There was a lot of construction in the area but it didn't affect the viewing of this amazing statue.
It represents the first king of Hungary. Grab a photo of this when you are in the area.

Located in Trinity Square, along with Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church, is this magnificent statue of Stephen I of Hungary, the first king of Hungary. Stephen I is also known as St. Stephen; he was canonized in 1083 in part because he discouraged pagan customs and promoted Christianity.
It's hard to miss this impressive statue when visiting Fisherman's Bastion on Castle Hill in Budapest.

This tasteful statue of St. Stephen was erected in 1906 and stands facing Mathias church, signifying that, as king, Stephen accepted the authority of the church.

The status of St Stephen in front of the fisherman’s bastion is truely beautiful, both in its construction and in its location. Overlooking the entire area, offering protection and leadership, the statue is lovely and has been perfectly restored. Just be advised that restoration/construction continues all around the statue, so definitely mind your step!

Beautiful statue showing a bearded St Stephen riding on a horse. It's in a beautiful area with amazing views over Budapest. The nearby Matthias Church is also stunning.

You can’t miss this statue in front of the fisherman’s bastion. Bit like Disneyland but the views are amazing. Good way to see the whole area is by the electric ⚡️ mini carts. 10euro each.

The Saint on horseback is the largest statue in the area surrounding the Fishman’s Bastion. Stephen was the King who united the Magyar tribes to create the country of Hungry. He also established Christianity in Hungry at the beginning of the 11th century.

Nice view at the Pest. Apart from the crowds that are here, it's worth to take a glance at the city and then quickly go somewhere else. Buda part of the city is pretty nice and peaceful.

Fantastic area, a good selection of museums, the Hapsburg military is worth the visit. Best to visit before midday, too many tour buses. Good selection of eateries but not cheap
