We took a forest hike along the sides of the hill. The path was green and beautiful and it was amazing to follow how we came higher and higher. When we finally got to the top and saw the liberty statue along the beautiful view,...More

Well this wasn't as nice and pleasant a hike as we would have hoped and we did stop to catch our breaths after climbing up the various flights of stairs, but all was forgotten when we reached the view point close to dusk and got...More

This place is worth visiting due to perfect view of Budapest. I guess there are several ways to get there, and I choose those up to the hill. It is a bit demanding but enjoyable.

You will get the best view of Budapest from the Gellert Hill and you can reach it with the red hop on-hop off-bus. In 15 minutes you'll get off, take some nice pictures and continue your sightseeing with the same bus - or then spend...More

To be honest, I'd lived in Budapest for 2 years before I visited Gellert hill, and I made the unfortunate decision to do so in the summer. The walk up through the trees is quite nice, though there's some steps to tame before you get...More

For me this wasn't impresive at all. Maybe for the hungarian people it means a lot, but not for a tourist. I went up by stairs, so it took a long time and I got tired. Buda Var is much better

It is up the hill, I know but here you get the best views of Budapest no matter what time of the Year you go.

To get to the statue, be prepared to get physical since it is quite steep uphill (mainly stairs). It is short though, around 10-20 I would say, depending on the speed. On top, not too many people in the evening and a very impressive view...More

No doubt that you have the best views over Budapest from Gellert Hill. It's good excercise to climb the many stairs up here - and down again. Apart from that there is nothing of interest on the green hill.

Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing
scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A
funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the
hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and
Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on
top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the
landscape with its imposing 19th century construction,
a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being
