The National Museum is a great place to learn about Magyar history through artifacts. Most have English translations to help you understand what you're seeing and why it was/is important. Well worth it.

Pace yourself for learning, relaxing, and "ah-ha" moments. We didn't have quite enough time for the temporary exhibits, regrettably. We spent about 3 hours touring the permanent exhibits, and likely missed some great features. The transitions from room-to-room make sense, and the exhibits are high-quality,...More

This museum houses a good collection of historical relics. It's displays trace the history of the Hungarian people over the past 1000 years. The collection is arranged in a chronological sequence. The stand-out item is certainly the Hungarian Coronation Mantle (ceremonial robe) dating from the 11th...More

A pretty decent museum in itself, perhaps comparing it with some others I have visited in Madrid, Paris etc would not be totally just. Nevertheless quite insightful.

Although it is not a spectacular museum to visit, we very much enjoyed the familiarization with Hungarian/Magyar history. It helped us to better appreciate the things that we saw for the next few days.

This is well worth the visit. The chronological history of Budapest, most interesting and well done. The highlight is seeing the piano which Beethoven, and subsequently Liszt played. There is enough explanation to hold your interest, but not so much as to feel overloaded. The...More

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Hi, We have a group of 10 adults that would like to visit on Sunday in mid May. The admission on the official web sites says the entrance fee is 1600 HUF per ticket, but I'm a bit confused, because it also says 1200 HUF for Adult group members? So lets say if we wish to have a small group tour with an English speaking guide (10,000 HUF) how much is it total for our group of 10??

Hi there - I'm afraid I have no idea therefore can't help with your question. As a suggestion, it might be worth emailing the museum. Good luck.
