Absolutely stunning architecture in the opera house. Shows were at set times of day which was in the afternoon and we visited morning. There wasn't a fee just to visit the building therefore worth a visit.

Well, I didn't have the chance to be inside for some performance, but I stayed near the Opera, so I had the chance to take a look many times. The building is very nice, there are many things to do around and there's a metro station just cross the road.

As usual with the Hungarian Opera the quality of the singing is astounding, the Opera itself a gilded treasure. There are no reproaches or reprimands that could be levelled against the Opera for its beautiful gilt carvings, frscoes, marbel staircases and velvet seats. The singing too is irreproachable, every note an exercise in perfection. However sometimes the mis-en-scene goes awry.... More

One of the most significant buildings in Budapest. Built in the 19th century, Designed by Miklos Ybl (famous Hungarian architect, borned in 1814 and died in 1891). Enterior and interior are just fantastic. One of the musts in Budapest. I love every detail of the structure.

Great building worth visiting. We did the visit and mini concert and it was awesome! A soprano gave us two renditions of Carmen. The tour takes you through the whole building allowing you to appreciate all its features and different rooms.

My wife and I attended Carmen at the Hungarian State Opera House. The venue was absolutely beautiful and classy. The opera performers were top-notch, as would be expected for such a venue. We were able to purchase last-minute tickets in a box. The seats were incredible, could not have been much better and the value was tremendous. We truly enjoyed... More

Saw carmen here and the performance was superb/ excellent quality music and singing, staging slightly odd at times. Much better value than UK opera. Setting amazing, gorgeous opera house.

I was interested in watching a performance, but did not manage to book on the internet. But we went to the Operahouse at 2 pm on the Saturday afternoon to check it out. I noticed that a guided tour cost over 2000 HUF, and then I went to the ticket counter and asked if there were any tickets left for... More
