My wife and I visited. It is worth the visit - there's enough to see, and Budapest has an incredibly interesting history as it "switched sides" so many times. There's work of art, and you can descend into the basements. The structure itself is beautiful....More

The museum is situated inside Buda Castle. It is very diverse with the upper floors being like a traditional museum with exhibits presented in almost a stately home style setting, and the the lower floors being more akin to an archaeological dig. A fascinating place,...More

We expected much more from a history museum compared to other countries. Not well maintained, nothing special to see and you could literally smell the toilets from the passages

this is a large museum up on the Buda Castle hill. We started on the "back" end as there is another entrance there and were able to work our way up through the levels of history of the actual building , then up to the...More

The museum has a very strange layout that doesn't seem to follow any timeline - not to mention that there are no sugestions on which route you should follow. We didn't take an audio guide which only made things even harder as not every item...More

The museum exhibit is not very special. If you want to see it i recommend getting an audio guide. It makes the experience much better. If you get the audio guide you can spend around 2h here.

Visited during a lengthy rain shower as an indoor activity. We visited during a national holiday meaning entry was free. We entered towards the back of the museum on the lower ground floor, which was perhaps a mistake. For sure there is a lot to...More

The museum has the potential for being interesting but it is poorly laid out, and the information given is inconsistently in English and very uninformative in places.

This is an interesting place to visit, but the layout is potentially confusing and you are left to your own devices to find you way around. There is no suggested or themed route around and little to the the individual exhibit plaques together into any...More

The historical center to a city with a multifarious
and intricate past, Buda has some of the most
outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable
natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube.
Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a
glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian
empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the
time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many
