If someone recommends Book Cafe – Lotz Terem to you, they're probably not doing so because of the food; it's very pricey and doesn't really live up to expectation. The recommendation will be based on the beauty of the venue – an experience that will hook you from beginning to end and transport you back in time. For that, you'll... More

Honestly, this was one of those literally hidden gems I used to send friends to. When you go through a modern-neon lights kind of book shop and up the staires this breathtaking room greets you that no picture do justice for, with live piano music and a nostalic athmosphere when you feel like you just timetravelled through the bookshop. Whenever... More

Lotz Hall was a great café with a breathtakingly beautiful interior that I enjoyed taking foreign friends to. Staff occasionally had their bad days, but that's just Hungary for you and it was nothing egregious. However it has closed recently due to the bankruptcy of the book store chain that owns the building. Currently it is unsure what will happen... More

We popped in on recommendation... did it disappoint.... No! Live pianist, stunning room, architecture was amazing and the art work was incredible. Looking past the room you have ok cakes and normal tea's and coffee. The staff's service was nothing special either. The cafés pricing is based off it's location and not it's quality, so be prepared to pay a... More

We came because of good reviews. The space is beautiful. But the service killed it. What a pity... such a beautiful coffee house but bad service.

We visited on our last day, but the directions are unclear from trip advisor. The book cafe is actually on the top floor of the book shop on the main shopping street; the directions take you around the back. The cafe is beautiful and is lovely to relax and unwind in. Lots of books to browse and many various sections.... More

An amazing place in Budapest - been here so long ago and kept telling people it exists, but couldn't actually remember where it was. Now I know. Good coffee, amazing cakes and grand piano - seriously, don't miss it!

I was not expecting such a nice cafe in a book store and the Sacher Cake was one of the best one among the cakes I tried in Budapest. I recommend.

Hidden above the Alexandra book shop, this cafe is warm and inviting with the most spectacular of architecture. The high, painted ceilings are magnificent. Loads of tables with a good varied menu on hot and cold drinks, snacks and cake. We had the Ginger Hot choc.... was to die for! Prices were not the cheapest but not too expensive, sat... More

Our guide actually took here, but wasn't disappointed at all. Books in both Hungarian and English are stocked in the shop, as well as some nice post-cards. But, most importantly find your way to the back and get upstairs for a bit of cake an a coffee or tea, very nice well made cakes are to be found here. *There... More
