I can't comment on the National Theatre building, I have never been in it. The National Concert Hall is one of my favourite venues in Bpest. Very good acoustics, smart and clean lines to the building, comfortable seats. I find its classical music programmes drab and unimaginative therefore disappointing, overall, but have had some wonderful experiences there nevertheless. I like... More

Nice walking and some great art in a beautiful palace and beautiful grounds. Plan to spend several hours and enjoy it all. For a break there is a cafe located on the grounds.

Excellent in every way. Plan a day of walking and enjoying the grounds with refreshments at the cafe. Some great modern Hungarian artists.

Saw the incredible Recircquel Show at Festival Szinhaz MUPA, a stunningly designed modern building with clean lines and great acoustics. At night the exterior lighting changes colour! It is a little out of town but worth the trip. The Recirquel Contemporary Circus Company: Paris de Nuit was performed by superb musicians and well-seasoned professional acrobats that conveyed a playful mix... More

We had one of the most memorable experiences at this concert hall. We were able to get last minute seats behind the orchestra, which was an outstanding and memorable experience. The music itself was outstanding and the duration was just right. This is a hidden gem that if you are traveling to Budapest, you MUST visit if you love music.... More

The only problem with MUPA is the location and the neighboring awful mindless building of the Hungarian National Theater. While actually this crazy building accentuates the simple clean forms of MUPA. To be on the riverfront of the Danube river should have to be a perfect place if only it would be a bit closer to the city center. The... More

Recently saw the complete Wagner's Ring Cycle here, with Adam Fisher conducting. Saw the ring in Los Angeles a few years back, but this Budapest performamce was incomparable The acoustics were one of the nest i eber heard, and my seat on the second level made the visuals equally formidable It is in the 9th district, accessible by the 2... This modern glass and concrete building has three parts - an large concert-hall, a museum and a samller venue/theatre. The place is well managed and the staff are all switched-on and friendly. The place is amazingly well appointed; comfortable seats, great catering outlets on all floors and clean toilets. This is in my view the best conert venue in Europe.... More

I recently saw a performance at the Palace of Arts (MUPA). MUPA is a very architecturally striking building on the Danube that is used for the performing arts. I saw a music and dance show called Wedding Dance that was based on a poem by László Nagy. Wedding Dance formed part of a Spring Festival in Budapest, and it was... More
