Zoltan was exactly what I was hoping for. He was knowledgeable, funny, interesting, and showed us little (and not so little) details that we never would have found on our own. He is a fascinating man with a fascinating story. We sat together before starting the day and laid out a plan and he made it all fit in half... More

A group of friends on a short weekend in Budapest, so what better way to see the city? Zoltan was tremendous! A concise history before setting off to the castle and old city wall of Buda. Not only were we treated to historical details, but also the intelligent and somewhat dry sense of humour of our guide! Was it interesting?... More

We like to get a historical perspective from local tour guides when we travel, and ask that they share places and perspectives beyond what can be readily found on sites like TripAdvisor. Zoltan led took us on a tour that provided glimpses of Prague from the Middle Ages through the post communism era. Fascinating experience and we highly recommend him.

We are firm believers in engaging the services of a local guide when we visit cities for the first time. A good guide can immerse you in the history, imporant sites and local customs in a way a guide book can not, as well as customize a tour to your interests. Eva surpassed our expectations. She introduced us to "hidden"... More

We had great communication with Zoltan prior to our arrival in Budapest. Having grown up during the Cold War period in the US, my husband and I were interested in learning about the effects Communism had on those living in Hungary. Zoltan picked us up promptly at our hotel and took us to Memento Park in the outskirts of Budapest.... More

Zoltan's Budapest tour, tailored to his clients, reaches beyond the physical aspects of beautiful Budapest to the heart of Budapest. My husband and I had taken formal and typical tours of Budapest twice. This was a tour into the soul of the city. In a manageable walk, Zoltan identified so many places of interest that we would never have noticed... More

Our friend Helen booked the Danube band whole day tour with Zoltan on Oct. 28. He picked us (six of us) promptly at our hotel. Off we went to the country side of Budapest. Professor Zoltan gave us lessons on history, politic and human nature of Hungary. He is very knowledgeable, and friendly. He also introduced us to local food and... More

We were a group of 3 couples who toured Budapest for a day and a half with Zoltan. We first met Zoltan after our long overseas flight and he was friendly and very accomodating. We wanted to see the Jewish quarter before the Dohany Street Synagogue closed for visitors and Zoltan made sure we were able to get there in... More

Zoltan was outstanding. We had a most informative and enjoyable day with him walking and talking in Budapest. His depth of knowledge about the political situation as well as what people are really thinking was fascinating. We stopped at places off the beaten track to taste local foods and drinks and to talk about many interesting topics. Our 7.5 hours... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
