This is a must do experience. The wine and ambience were amazing. It is somewhat difficult to find, but if you just go in the main entrance to the Hilton in Buda, they will direct you. Make sure to make reservations, or you are unlikely to get in.

Enjoyed an excellent evening of wine tasting in this wine cellar below the Hilton on castle hill. Presented with 5 fine wines - 2 reds, 2 white and 1 desert wine. The very knowledgeable host provided a detailed description of the wines each of which were excellent and provided us with a birthday cake to celebrate the birthday of one... More

I was lucky to stumble upon this wine cellar as I was staying in the Hilton Hotel. The atmosphere is fantastic with just a few tables in a cave-like setting. The sommeliers were very friendly and knowledgeable, providing history and geography context with each wine. It was a perfect evening.

We reserved a table at Faust Wine Cellar during our stay in Budapest. The cellar is located underneath the Hilton Hotel and is accessed via the hotel's bar. The cellar itself is really beautiful and atmospheric. Reserving a table is recommended as there are only 4 - 5 tables. The sommeliers were friendly and knowledgable throughout. We decided to try... Very atmpspheric place. Wine tasting in an underground cellar. Great selection of wines with knowledgeable staff to tell you all about them. Blankets provided to keep you snug in the winter. Opportunity to buy what you like. Two kinds of tasting, we chose the smaller package which was plenty of wine to get merry on. Friends who had done the... More

A visit to the cellars beneath the Hilton Hotel on Castle Hill should be on everyone's itinerary for a Budapest visit. Only four of us, but we received the same amount of attention as the larger groups, with detailed descriptions of the wines, the regions, and each of the winemakers too. An amazing setting, and an extremely enjoyable way to... More

We were a group of six girls on New Years Eve going for wine tasting. The location is just great, and the atmosphere down in the wine cellar is pretty unique. There are not room for that many guests at the same time, which adds up to the unique atmosphere. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Although, it was... More

This is a great place to visit. It is very atmospheric in the cellar caves below the Hilton Buda. The owner is a true enthusiast of Hungarian wines. He knows the wine producers personally and is brilliantly knowledgeable. His passion is just so evident during your visit. Allow plenty of time - 9 wines and the helpings are nice an... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
