With a very beautiful location overlooking the salt flats at Seca and the bay around Portoroz, the Forma Viva park is well worth a visit. As others have noted it is peaceful and the grassy olive groves provide an excellent background for the large sculptures on display. Many of them have intriguing shapes, some are just chunky blocks. Enjoy!

Stroling on a walk through Portoroz, it was pleasant to see the exhibited artworks. I like to look at Forma viva layouts in various environments...adds playfulness to the space.

Beautiful sculptural art with relaxing view of the sea. It would be nice if there was an website for the pieces of art where you could learn more about the artists and objects. Very relaxing.

Forma Viva is an interesting sculpture collection out in an olive grove outside of the town of Portoroz. Not sure about some of the art but ymmv.
Small parking area. Not easy to find, follow the sign and then you turn away from town keeping the camp ground on your right.

The first sculptural symposium - Forma vivo - was prepared by Karl Prantl in the quarry of St. Margarethen in Austria in 1959. This symposium was then attended by Slovene sculptor Janez Lenassi, while the following year, sculptor Jakob Savinšek, both of them shared the idea of sculpting a joint life and work, that they took up their position and helped them to be in Slovenia in 1961 two sculpted workshops were opened: in Portorož (on the peninsula Seča) and in Kostanjevica na Krki in 1961.

Then, they were followed by a concrete form in Maribor and cast iron in Ravne na Koroškem, and today in Makolah (mixed materials) and Izola (rockstone from rocky scales).

A very nice and relaxing holiday. Lots of opportunities to visit and relax in the area. Piran, Izola, Koper, Umag, Muggia and of course Portoroz itself, (for us) enough opportunities for walking and cycling in the surrounding area.
