Spectacular winding river that easily defines the liquid backbone of the entire city. While in Ljubljana we strolled most of it that winds itself through the city center. Faulting the river for the smoking habits of the Europeans is just plain silly. The river is...More

While the streets each side provide for a multitude of eateries intermixed with trinket shops, the river/canal is quite unremarkable. When there is a good water flow, a calming quality exists. For me, most European cities do not do enough to reduce the waste that...More

Told by guide that the river had seven names because it goes underground six times and rises seven. Lovely serene trip through and out of the city. Water very green but I expect that's because it flows very slowly and algae gets chance to grow

We liked the river and had a boat ride along it mid afternoon. Our boat went well down stream and it was a good trip. We were out of the city very quickly and enjoyed the great views of the town from a different angle....More

The canal is a beautiful area to walk and to people watch. There are many restaurants and gelato stands located up and down the canal. You can also take a boat ride on the canal.

The whole center owns its charm to its architecture on one side and its position on the river on the other. So this canal is really central in the city life. You’ll almost mandatorily walk along it but it’s also a good idea to enjoy...More

Lined with cafes and popular with kayakers and tour boats, walking the canal down in the old town makes for great people watching and a leisurely afternoon, even if it starts to rain!

You can enjoy a canal ride on a boat, you can walk by the canal, or you can sit in a cafe by the canal, etc. All these will give you a pleasure of a nice scenery of the canal. There are also stands along...More

Book a cruice. Ticket Office is located on the right side of the river. Totally another kind of view to the town. The boat goes under several beautiful bridges. You can follow the life alongside the river from riverside cafes to paddling club.
