It is a lovely small "park" sort of attraction, with lots of interesting flowers, plants and trees. Due to visiting in winter, I did not spend much time there, and it was too early to visit the "inside the glass" area. Not something to go specially for, however, a nice walk with a cute little bridge before it.

Good local beer and nice tea. We had a nice tea in the garden of botanic gardens. Service is ok and the (student craft) beer is nice and has good taste. The tea is also nice. They sell (homemade) cookies and it is a nice and relaxing atmosphere.

As we were staying 5 minutes away, we stopped in at the botanical gardens. They are tiny, shady and not stunning but a calm place with a really lovely shady cafe if you need some peace. The cafe does breakfast ( the gardens open at 8 every day) and if I’d been on my own I would definitely have come here with a book for a few hours. Free entry to the main gardens with a fee for the greenhouse.

Visited here one morning, I was not expecting too much but was very surprised at this hidden gem which is located a little out of the centre. If approaching from the centre you should arrive by walking along the river which is very clean and with many fish swimming in it. There is a dinky glasshouse which is a couple of euro to visit (recommended) with a helpful lady at reception who speaks excellent English, and you can see the banana palm, ponds, and more. Outside (free to walk around) is a collection of lemon trees, weird cacti, many herbs and more. Plenty of places to sit. It is not a massive garden but at the same time peaceful and not crowded. A couple of hours will be enough time to visit. Ljubljana overall is a fantastic well kept secret of a city and I hope it never gets too well known and swamped with tourists.

Nice garden to visit if nearby (need to walk a little bit from the city centre)
Even more nice when it's hot as you can stay out of the sun when walking around
Book cases (different languages) in the garden so you can stop to read
Very cute little cafe hidden inside
Beware of the bicycles, people are riding quite fast despite the fact that's it's forbidden

Ljubljana Botanic Garden is historically important (for Slovenia) but not such a big venue in late summer. Yes, it is small and yes, it was dried in the middle of August. But its location close to Ljubljanica river makes a great escape from lively touristic town centre just few hundred meters away. Will come again in spring!

Snowdrops are all around the meadows in late February. It is nice surprise for all visitors. Entrance is free, you wil just pay for the glass houses. Good idea for a short visit.

I am sure this is a beautiful place in summer and spring .... of course it is a bit limited during this time if the year .... however there are beautiful snow drops and spring flowers and the smell of wild garlic is everywhere (at the moment)
Nice walk in a nice and calm area ..... about 25 min walk from city centre

Quite a small, but well kept botanical garden, in a green part of Ljubljana beneath the castle hill. The entrance is free, but there is a small fee entering the greenhouse.
Getting there by bus is a little bit difficult, since in is between 2 stops, and you have to walk quite a lot to the entrance.
