The castle provides a good view of the city but as a castle it isn't anything spectacular. We did the audio tour but I don't think you need to do this. The tower provides the best view.

€10 for the cable car up and down and to go up the tower. Well worth it!! You get a magnificent and uninterrupted view over the city.

I took the furnicular up to the castle which took just a few minutes. The castleitself is quite compact and to be honest the various exhibitions such as the puppetry, and Slovenian history were quite lame. The exhibitions didn't have enough content and material. The...More

Make yourself a free morning so you can enjoy the castle and it's exhibition. There is so much to do there! The tower, the Marionettes museum, the underground rooms, there are more then 20 spots to visit. On a sunny day you can relax at...More

Worth a wee visit although not much to see when up there. Nice restaurant outside for a relaxing drink and a view of the city below. Took funicular up and walked one of the many roads/tracks down Did not pay for the tower, so that...More

There are too much modern things like: wires, glass, fences which kind of ruin the looks of the place. Plus, the place is over run by people. You can walk up or take the tram or drive up. If you take the tram, you only...More

The castle dominates the city skyline and looks very impressive from the old town. In truth it's not a huge place and doesn't have all that much of interest inside, but the views are spectacular, so a must-see tourist spot.

This castle has been used in turn as a residence of ancient nobilities, a prison, and now as a tourist attraction. You ride a funicular to get to the top. The view of the city of Ljubljana as it unravels when the funicular moves up...More

There is no parking at the top. The two ways to get up are via walking or taking the funicular railway.
