Description:

The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews is the first and only museum...

The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews is the first and only museum dedicated to restoring the memory of the civilization created by Polish Jews in the course of a millennium.Museum's building faces the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes in Warsaw. The Museum completes the memorial complex. At the monument, we honor those who perished by remembering how they died. At the museum, we honor them, and those who came before and after, by remembering how they lived. As a museum of life, POLIN Museum engages with the present and opens out to the future. As an educational and cultural institution, the museum is dedicated to stimulating dialogue in the spirit of mutual understanding and respect. Museum's core exhibition is a journey through the 1000-year history of Polish Jews. Enter this theater of history where the story unfolds in acts and scenes as you walk. Immerse yourself in the story. Encounter those who lived in each period - their words are quoted throughout the exhibition. Enter the scene - a salon, tavern, home, church, synagogue, or schoolroom. There are surprises in drawers you can open, screens and objects you can touch, and much that you can see - artifacts, photographs, documents, and films. Each visit to the museum will be different. There will always be something new to inspire you!

This museum is housed in a fabulous modern building and presents the 1000 year history of the Jews in Poland in thorough and accessible interactive design. The highlight of the exhibit is a reconstructed interior of an 18th century wooden synagogue.

We unfortunately ran out of time on what was our Warsaw "museum day", but we got to spend some time outside at their open air exhibit on the March of the Living. It was a moving exhibit, one of the most memorable experiences in Warsaw, and made us wish that we had more time.

It is new place in Warsaw and there are a lot of people inside. Not pleasent atmosphere to study centuries of Polish Jew's history. But everybody has to visit this place being prepared to spend really many hours. There are so many things to see there!!! And many materials to study in order to understand very difficult but interesting history... More

This is a lovely museum. So much of what North Americans know about Poland and Warsaw specifically is tied to the Second World War and the horrific events of the Holocaust. While that part of history is honoured and commemorated this museum serves to remind us that the history of the Jews in Poland is so much more than that... More

The Jewish Museum is well thought through and very extensive in its full history of the arrival of the Jewish people in Poland. The history also includes details of World War II. There is enormous amounts of reading to do in the museum with hand held audio guides available at the ticket booth. Some interactive displays keep the interest and... More

It was great experience and for sure the most interactive and interesting museum I have ever visited. I would recommend to reserve at least 4-5 hours to be spent there.

I spent an hour and a half, and had just gotten to the Holocaust when the museum closed. Fortunately there are other museums that also deal with that time, but I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits which described how Jews lived in Poland for the last 1000 years.

This is a must stop in Warsaw if you want to learn the history of the Jewish people in Poland. Definitely I've one of the audio guides which are available in many languages. The narration is cell done and frankly was the same as the comments I heard from some of the private guides. The exhibits are very informative and... More

This amazing museum depicts the history of Jews in Poland. It has one part on the holocaust but focuses on Jewish life and culture across 1,000 years. Beautiful.

Although this is listed as the 1000 year history of Polish Jews, one can truly learn about the Polish people during that time. It is a well-designed and laid-out facility with both static and hands-on displays. The audio-guide is excellent.
