Old Town
About
After being leveled when the Nazis left, this whole neighborhood of cobblestone Gothic streets and alleyways, baroque palaces, numerous churches and tiered burghers' houses were masterfully reconstructed to reflect the atmosphere of bygone days.

    Old Town Warsaw
Old Town Warsaw, Stare Miasto, is the Historic Centre in Warsaw, Poland. Big respects to the Polish people how they rebuilt Old Town after it was completely destroyed by the nazis in World War 2. The architecture of the buildings are impressive. This place is a must to visit in Warsaw. Visit the museums and explore the surroundings and learn about Warsaw’s history. Make sure to visit the Royal Palace in Warsaw.

Family 50th celebration trip to Poland.
If you're planning a trip to Poland, please consider StayPoland.com as your travel agent for everything Poland. My family and I just returned on Monday, 6/27/2023, from our tour and it couldn't have been better. This is our third experience with this agency and we haven't been disappointed. We arrived in Kracow, Poland on 6/16, the driver picked us up at the airport and delivered us to Hotel Unicus for a two night stay. Having stayed there on our last trip in 2017, we knew what to expect, and the excellent standards were maintained. The next day, our agent, Anna, had arranged a walking tour of Old Town and Wawel Castle. Our guide was a font of information and kept us entertained for the three hour tour. Well worth the tired feet! Our guide/driver, Peter met us in the hotel lobby, loaded us up in our 8 passenger Mercedes van and away we went. Even though our tour was private, it was a curated tour, Simple Pleasure, a seven day driving tour. We visited the cities of Lanckorona, Novy Sacz, Łańcut, Zaność, Kazimierz, and ending in Warsaw. The hotels we stayed in were all local to each city. Each were individual in their styles, but all clean and comfortable. The Hotel Modrzewiowka, in Lanckorona, had small rooms with double beds. that was a challange for our 6'4" son-in-law! Hotel Zamojski, in Zamość, had no central air conditioning. It was a warm day, but opening the balcony door soon cooled the room after temperature dropped after sunset. We ended our tour in Warsaw and a two night stay at the Marriott. It was a real treat to be at an American hotel brand with some of the amenities we missed, AC and king beds. Again, our agent, arranged a 4 hour tour of Warsaw. It was a city drive, walking tour of the Royal Castle, and ended in Old Town. This trip was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We took our two children and their spouses. No party will be able to out-do this trip and the memories will be relived for a very long time.

Old town steeped in history and jewellery shops
Was a great visit to the old town, plenty of shop leading in to the old town, excellent if your into amber jewellery with so many shops to choose from, lots of coffee type cafe s to choose from. Very clean and well policed. I gave it 4 for the reason of lack of variety of shops, still so much to see in steep history and culture and the people very friendly

    WOW what a wonderful place
We were recommend Old Town by a friend who is Polish Old Town met all expectations We stayed in the heart of Old Town it is close all restaurants and there are so many to choose from. There are a number of tours you can book we did the food tour which included food and history which was excellent. The town has kept parts of the buildings to show damage/ bullet holes from the wars. They have preserved the original castle with mote, you can see the bullet holes in the century old buildings. In other parts of Old Town they had to rebuild completely If you want to experience the culture and history of Warsaw then Old Town is a must see in your list Would definitely stay there again Excellent experience

    Old town Warsaw
Great place to visit with so many interesting places to explore. Small alley ways, underground museums, cobble stoned walkways and a magnificent castle to explore. It is awe inspiring but at the same time, a place to reflect on the past and to visit an area that was destroyed then totally rebuilt after WW2.

    Great tourist meeting point
This is where you find most of the tourists wandering around the cobblestone streets and stopping in at the numerous cafes. It has a great atmosphere as there is always something happening. There are buskers and small kids playing accordions trying to earn money.

Great visit to the old town
Visited the old town and shops. Lovely part of the city with various shops and places to see, this is the heart of the city and tourist visiting. Just remember this looks old but most of it rebuilt after WW2.

    Beautiful
Beautiful area, for sure main touristic attraction in Warsaw. Many architectural buildings, cathedrals, restaurants, souvenir shops and many many more. You can spend easily half day or more in the neighborhood. And you will not regret. Sometimes could become very crowded as long as all tourists group comes here.

A beautiful part of Warsaw which offers so much Warsaw history from The Castle Square, Old Market Square, The Barbican, Old Town Churches, Royal Castle and much more all in walking distance to each other. Beautiful old architecture and colourful buildings and cobblestone side streets. And so many photo opportunities add the restaurants, cafes, bars, boutique shops, souvenir shops. You are definitely spoiled for choices.

I took the tram and had to climb some stairs to get to the old city, which, on that warm june afternoon had many tourists. The atmosphere was ideal for walking. There is a wide pedestrian street with traditional buildings on both sides and of course there are restaurants, cafeterias, small mini markets (the latter being expensive and selling some basic things for example water, cigarettes etc.). Police presence was discreet, there was nothing to spoil a good day out, I could notice a few benches here and there, which were necessary since the area is vast and one would need a moment to catch their breath and keep on exploring. This “old town” is a real town with churches, residences, smaller and bigger streets, which one needs a lot of time to discover. A second visit may be necessary, which I hope to achieve some day in future, as that land has been by far the best surprise I have had in my recent trips.

Old Town Warsaw is very interesting and historical . The Old Town has many restaurants, cafes, stores and museums of every kind. It is a must see when in Warsaw. Lots of walking thru historical sites. Don't forget to see the small Soldier Boy monument and of course the statue of King Zygmunt.

Polish cities are really beautiful, especially if you choose to visit the Old Town Square. On the other hand, I think that the one in Warsaw is inferior to cities like Gdansk or Cracow. We expected something more monumental from the capital, but still charming!

The old town is a rebuild of the pre-war old town, and very impressive in its attention to detail. We really enjoyed wandering the streets, which wind and intertwine to take you to a beautiful square (which in January had an ice rink and lots of cabins selling milled wine, hot chocolate etc.). Loads of lovely cafes and restaurants, plus shops to buy souvenirs. And around the edge of old town there are sunken gardens you can walk through, giving you a better idea of the scale of it all. We visited in January so greatly enjoyed walking through untouched snow around the walls.

Methodically rebuilt after WW2. Very vibrant atmosphere with tourists, attractions, bars and restaurants. One of the most underrated cities in the world and certainly worth while to visit.
