A commemorating monument

This was where the Jews were assembled for deportation to death camps, this is just a plaque commemorating the event.

Umschlagplatz used to be the place where the Jews were deported mainly to Auschwitz by the Nazis (even the name of the square is kept in German) in what they were called "the trains of death". The place today doesn't look anymore like a large ramp (like some scenes are showing in the famous "The Pianist" film) and the simple... More

It's great that they have a memorial at the site where such terrible atrocities took place. And it's a fine memorial. This is where they would gather the Jews before taking them to extermination camps. The emotional charge is very high, at least I felt it that way. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to be in contact... More

The Umschlagplatz was the site where around 300,000 of Warsaw's Jews were gathered at gunpoint a few hundred or a few thousand at a time, robbed of their possessions, and held for hours or overnight (and some were shot) until they were sent off by train to their deaths at Treblinka. It is a historic and tragic site that constitutes... More

We took the free tour guide with a very nice lady and she explained everything about the history of the jewish district from beginning of the 15th century! The history dosen't rely only on the holocaust snd the ww2, there are many other interesting things to see but only with the help of a professional guide!

Umschlagplatz is a site from which hundreds of thousands of Jews were sent to concentration camps. I was alone at the memorial and had some time to reflect. The memorial is simple, but powerful and is worth a visit during your time in Warsaw.

A very crucial part of the history of the city. So sad, and as you stand, you cannot believe the events that took place here.

Knowing German to translate it, someone would think there was a station for loading cattle or some newly produced goods from a factory. Unfortunately it was people loading station on their final journey to any of Nazi concentration camps. Simple wagon monument in white marble resembles the WWII horrors. Never to be forgotten.

A simple but powerful monument. There was a huge crowd there when I arrived, but they soon melted away leaving me to contemplate and say a prayer on my own.

Moving place to go. Thinking of the 300,000 jews transported through here to the extermination camps, sit a moment and think about how many men, women and children went to their deaths from here.
