A good small museum in an attractive building on the site of the Old Synangogue. The visit starts with a moving video explaining the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. (Note that the Uprising museum mentions very little about this). Upstairs are emporaary exhibitions- currently showing works of art from the Hirszenberg brothers. A shame that few tourists make it here.

No visit to Warsaw can be completed without a visit in the museum of thousand years of Jewish history in Poland. Jews settled in Poland after the horrible holocaust. The institute of Jewish history located in ul. Anielewicza 6, is the state of the art of architecture and multimedia. The museum is divided into periodical section and you walk through... More

Since this is one of the few buildings left after the war once feels a special energy there, not comparable to anything you can find in a modern edification. Besides, it houses very interesting exhibitions about the ghetto life and Jewish life in Warsaw. Definitely, a must see.

It's a really nice museum...Like most modern museums if you don't speak the local language there is a English translated version. You should plan to spend at least a half day in there. My only complaint would be the numbering system they used. A few of the exhibits were difficult to find.

This building is famous as it is the building that survived the Nazi leveling of all the buildings of the Warsaw Ghetto, including the Great Synagogue that once stood next to it (now the location of the blue tower skyscraper). The floor and entrance look like they are in neglect and disrepair but that is not the case- this is... More

We spent hours in here but barely scratched the surface. So much to read about long before WW2!! The different levels and set out took you on a journey with the story itself. Well worth it if you have the time.

The institute's steps & foyer were damaged in 1943 when the Nazis fire bombed the old synagogue on Tlomackie Street. This makes the institute visit worthwhile. The exhibit is one 3 floors: - main floor has an excellent bookstore & coffee shop; - 2nd has a small theatre (where you can see a 45 min video on "912 Days of... More

This free institute is seemingly more focused on research than visitors. They present a riveting, grainy 40 minute documentary on 912 days of the Warsaw ghetto. I believe there were 2 other films available but we didn't see them. Up a couple flights of stairs is an exhibit of paintings by Jewish artists from 1890-1940 most of whom perished in... More
