I knew very little about the history of Pawiak Prison before my visit to the museum. A google search before my trip was the first I'd ever heard of it. Upon reading a bit about it I decided to visit while I was in Warsaw and it was a great decision. I happened to be there on Polish Independence Day... More

Found the museum very educational but at the same time unsettling. Lots of personal items that belonged to some of the people who were held in the prison. The original prison was destroyed, but there is reconstructed cells and items that were Found in the rubble. Worth a visit took us about an hour to look around. Not a big... More

I traveled to this museum after reading a book about Irena Sandler. It was free to everyone and very informative/educational. However, when seeing it and hearing the stories about the prisoners, it was difficult to handle.

Eerie and somber from the start, very atmospheric as you look about the cells and read the information, very moving and stirring. Small but well worth a visit

So far I have visited Pawiak Museum more than 30 times to pay the respect and tribute for 300000 prisoners who passed the doors of this Prison. The Museum on the other side of Dzielna Street, has the library and the archives files of many prisoners.

If you're short on time, and need to make choices, pick the Gestapo Museum over this place. The Gestapo museum leaves a much stronger impression, is better laid out, and is more interesting than the Pawiak prison - even though Pawiak is a bigger museum. Also, the hours are not reliable. We went there one day and the doors were... More

The place is staffed by Stalin's old crones with all the friendliness you'd expect of them! Zilch! My guidebook and the tourist info said that a visit to this and Szucha should be on the same ticket: admittedly, that's only 10 zloty per visit, but you don't get a great deal at either. My advice: don't go - it's out... More

Small museum which tells the story of those who were incarcerated here by the Gestapo and what happened to them.Though out of the way worth sparing the time for a visit.

A ticket to Pawiak Prison includes entry to Mausoleum of Struggle & Martyrdom (near Lazienki Park). Both museums are quite small, but it will give you a glimpse into the Gestapo regime. Worth a look.

I really wanted to see the Pawiak Prison museum because I knew the impact of the place would have a profound effect, which it certainly does. The thing about places like Pawiak and Auschwitz is that you really don't need to know every single detail about the past, you don't need to be incredibly well read about the holocaust, because...
