About
The Poznan museum exists from 1857. It was renamed to National Museum in Poznan in 1950. It is one of the oldest, biggest and most important museums in Poland. You can find here paintings by J. Malczewski, O. Boznańska, modern art by Kantor, Stażewski, Kulik, Gustowska as well as European paintings, coffin portraits or a collection of portraits of Roman Emperors.

I really enjoyed viewing the architecture in Poznan ,walking onto Plac Wolnosci there are several really beautiful buildings to view ,one that caught my eye was National Museum Of Poznan Building.
Home to great art exhibitions ,this building was constructed in 1904 from plans from architect Carl Hinckeldyen ,a wonderful example of Neo - Classical style architecture ,it's a building that's very photogenic and adds to the joy of walking around this area of the city ,it's easy to locate just off Plac Wolnosci along Marcinkowskiego and well worth checking out if you're an art lover or enjoy great architecture .

The museum is big and has amazing Polish and European art. The tickets are free on Tuesdays.
I also went to a temporary exhibition of Vilhelm Hammershøi’s paintings which were also worth seeing.

Very large museum with old and modern Polish art. They have amazing selection of painting made by Malczewski, Wyspiański and Boznańska. You can also see paintings from Germany, Netherlands and Italy.

Amazing museum housed in a beautiful building. Gives a very deep look into Polish art through the ages. Great collection, clearly displayes in a structured fashion. Polish art in the best possible form.

This museum must be really beautiful, it hosts the only Monet painting that was stolen, a movie is being done out it now.

Amazing gallery with very nice interior came here to see Jacek Marczewski’s Błędne Koło (viscous circle) , Staff are horrible and condescending during the corona virus period, keep making remarks and follow you around the gallery with a daunting presence.

The museum is very large, you can spend almost all day around it.
The museum is located in two buildings. The old headquarters from 1904 shows on the ground floor the Polish Art Gallery 16-18 century with a unique collection of coffin portraits and the Gallery of Medieval Art. In the basement of the old building is a collection of the Roman imperial portrait unique in Polish collectionsand ancient art gallery. On the first floor there are collections of Western European painting, with the only painting by Claude Monet in Poland ''Beach in Pourville''. The new wing exhibits works of the Gallery of Polish Art since the time of enlightenment by the arts of romanticism, academism, impressionism, symbolism - including the largest collection of paintings by Jacek Malczewski in Poland - paintings by Olga Boznańska, Wojciech Weiss, Witold Wojtkiewicz, Stanisław Wyspiański, Leon Wyczółkowski, Piotr Potworowski, Władysław Podkowiński, Jan Matejko. Fantastic permanent exhibition. An amazing collection of paintings and sculptures from ancient times to the present day. Huge art collection, it is worth booking a few hours for sightseeing, because there is really something to watch. Free admission on Saturdays.

What a waste of time. Terrible art. Go somewhere else! The collection is one disappointed. Staff is really not friendly at all.

There are two building, the new and the old museum. In the new part mainly Polish painters with excellent works. We found some new names and paintings, what we have to learn. In the old part European art - Spanish, German, French, Flamish - practically all old masters. IT IS A MUST VISIT FOR ART LOVERS!
