Worth a visit if you want to understand more about the German Konzentrationslager

Worth a visit to learn more about the devastating terrors during WW2 both i Poland and rest of Europe. The site is not too crowded and not as detailed as some of the bigger camps, still the cruelty of the Nazis - and other people - and the faith of the prisoners becomes all to clear during the visit. Make sure to rent the audio guide when you visit to get the full tours.

The museum of inhumanity and horror!

Gross-Rosen Museum, which is small in comparison with Oświęcim, reminds and teaches what wars can lead us to: inhumanity and horror!

Realization sets in

Truly a place to reflect how terrible people can be. Movie was moving and museum had so much to show and explain. Just walking around was very humbling. A must see in Poland but they only accept cash so be prepared!

Well worth a visit

Well worth the 1 hour drive from Wroclaw if you are staying there for a few days. Don’t judge it or compare it to other camps as this is a big mistake - it is certainly no Auchwitz or Birkenau, but it is well capable of standing alone as a tourist attraction and a monument to awful events of the past in its own right. There are a selection of buildings, huts to see and also the quarry- enough to imagine the suffering that went on there during the war.

Disappointing

After visitng Auschwitz I was expecting something more from Gross-Rosen. This is a place for those who want to find something out about the history, but not to see much.

We visited as part of a day tour from Wroclaw with our own guide. We began by looking at the exhibition, and an English brochure was provided for translation. We then had a pre-booked tour of the camp with a Polish guide. Our tour guide explained that pre booking in this way meant that we would be able to see more than if we just wandered around ourselves, and indeed buildings were opened up specially for us. The guide gave lots of detail and was patient as everything was translated into English by our guide. We had plenty of time to look around and ask questions, and we never felt rushed. Seeing the quarry really helped us to understand what happened at Gross Rosen. Renovation work is still taking place. A very interesting visit, a guide is a necessity.

In general we were quite happy with the visit however, inside if the museum everything is only in polish, nothing was translated.
We then watched a short movie in English but polish was so loud that at some points we were unable to understand neither language.
The rest of the object had translations but it's just such a shame that the main museum was only in polish.

Well kept and maintained

Arrived to a nearly empty car park so had a quiet trip around the site. There are plenty of info boards placed around the site next to various remains of buildings. There are very few original buildings as most were wooden. There were some buildings that were locked up, the French barracks, the loom room and the watchtower but the rest were open.

One Ray of light was in the bath house (which does have a roof) where, in a niche was a small bird sitting on its eggs in a nest.

It's worth going to the quarry to see the scale of the operation and to get a feel of the impossibility of the inmates ordeal. All in 2.5 hours seemed to go by so fast.

Visit in one of the large concentration camp in lower Silesia. Tour start in fron of museum watch movie about Gross Rossen and II War. See all complex Gross Rossen about 3hour. On right is StoneMine big open place where the prisioneners was work. Its sad place but I imported for next generation

We went here a lot while on holiday. We stayed near by and my son called this place "the old reliable " as you knew what you were going to get and it would be nice. He didn't like the noise in the outside seating where it was always busier. We tended to go during the day or early evening while it was less busy as he doesn't tolerate loud music or noise. We sat inside it was nice and cool, the service was good. Nice food, and very reasonably priced.
