- TheHitman69Bredbury, United Kingdom88 contributionsGreat MuseumFantastic museum, well worth a visit if you are in Krakow. Only about 15 minutes from the old town by tram and very reasonable entry fee. There are loads of aircraft, probably 2 to 3 time more than the average aircraft museum. It is mostly Polish built and/or operated aircraft of course but there are many from other nations as well. There are also some unique and very rare planes too.Visited May 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 December 2022
- maks pKrakow, Poland4 contributionsmy opinionThis is a great museum with a lot of historic and authentical planes of Poland. They are very old but in good shape. (you know stay fit👍👍). I highly recommend buying tickets even for advance. Great place for avgeeks as there is what to see. The have some events from time to time. There is a small vending machine and a gift show with planes for modelling. Some toys. Magnets. etc.Visited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 16 June 2023
- Richard MHampstead Norreys, United Kingdom870 contributionsExcellent for aircraft buffsThe museum contains a large number of very interesting planes. There is a hall with a lot of interesting world war 1 biplanes particulary German marks. There are a lot of exhibits from the second world war and some very historic examples in another hall. Outside there are a huge amount of Migs and Sukhois from over 50 years of development. A long line of strange and one off planes from crop dusters to old passenger aircraft. Poland also had a lot of aircraft from other nations which included a lot of aircraft examples i had never seen before. Excellent but actually slightly sad to see these incredible machines being neglected in the outdoors. Shame really as there are some unique examples.Visited July 2023Written 30 July 2023
- Simon D2 contributionsTrip to the Polish Aviation MuseumReally excellent museum with a broad range of aircraft covering all eras of aviation. We particularly enjoyed seeing the Mig-29 and the AN-26 and the Mig alley was really something special. Only slight criticism would be the lack of more US Cold War aircraft on display. Definitely worth a visit even if you are not 100% a fully fledged AV geek 😃Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 August 2023
- AmandaBelfast, United Kingdom5 contributionsWould recommendReally loved this museum. We used the ‘get your guide app’ and bought tickets for just over £5 for all three of us. My teenage son was fascinated with the fighter jets and missiles. The majority of the aircraft are outside so maybe not great to visit on a cold or wet day. The aeroplanes outside are weathered although still very interesting. There are 3 or 4 hangers with better maintained examples and some interactive activities. The museum is only a short tram ride away from the centre and then a 5 minute walk. Would thoroughly recommend!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 August 2023
- Mr DThe Netherlands628 contributionsGreat Experience! What a beautiful museum to visit. If I counted well 4 hangars full of beautiful well maintained planes. World War 1 and WOII planes are on display. Outside there is a large number of fighter jets and helicopters, not all in the best of shape but they are there. Take some coins along as the vending machines for coffee only operate the old fashioned way. Easy to get by tram.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 September 2023
- mystic100254 contributionsNot to be missed - One of the best Aviation Museums in EuropeWhat a wonderful and interesting museum. Spent over 4 hours leisurely looking at the various exhibits and could easily have spent longer had it not been -1 and snowing! A huge number on aircraft, helicopters and gliders on display both inside and outside. Good descriptive plates for each plane in both Polish and English. Small gift shop and a self service (vending machines) cafe with a few tables and chairs. Also a big collection of aircraft engines and a number of other bits of military equipment. All for just 27 Polish Zloty (about £5.40 at time of visit). Although outside the city centre it was only an easy 13 minute (5 stop) ride on the number 5 tram from the main station, followed by a short walk of about 500 yards. Would definitely recommend whether an aviation enthusiast like myself or not.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 25 November 2023

There are aircrafts outside and in the building. The planes on display, both foreign and Polish needs moreTLC and polish to extinguish the notion we got that many airframes have been through neglect.

Do you have to purchase tickets in advance or can they be bought at the museum on the day?

When going by Tram is the Museum in zone 1and would the ticket by valid to Nowa Huta ?

As mentioned above, it's less than 20 minutes to the museum, so a Z1 ticket will be fine, but Nowa Huta will be further, and will be in Zone 2.

We are looking at booking a mini break to Krakow at the hotel Alexandra. How long would it take to travel to the Austwich site?

Hi, they do pick ups from hotels around the old town vicinity, it takes about 45 minutes. They play a dvd in the bus to give you an idea of what happened and what you’ll will see, so it goes in quite fast. If it’s hot make sure you take a drink and a hat, as the walk around Birkenau is unshaded.

I understand you can get a taxi out to visit the centre, but is it hard to get a taxi back into the city, or how do you travel back to the city centre?
Piotr K
Krakow, Poland83 contributions
Finding a taxi in Krakow isn't a problem. A taxi from downtown to the Museum of Aviation should cost no more than 25 PLN.
With the Public transport (tram) you can get there from city center (line 4) or from the main railway station (line 5). Single tickets are available from vending machines at bus stops (cards, coins and banknotes) and in trams and buses (only coins and credit cards PayPass). Single ticket costs less than 1 euro. If you stay in Krakow for a few days worth to buy a ticket for 24h = 3.5 euro), 48h = 5.5 euro, 72h = 8 euros, 7 days = 10.5 euros. The prices are for adults. Children's tickets are half price. Tickets are checked often.
How long does it take to go round the museum ?

It took me most of the day to see everything. But, I wasn't rushing about.
