extraordinary architecture of an old coal mine quarter comprising characteristic for this area red tenement houses with spacious courtyards (each block having specific individual features), all this intersected by narrow cobbled streets. Typical tourist attractions are not indigenous to this area (luckily - as this constitutes its unspoiled charm): there are a few diners/restaurants and cafes, little corner shops, an... More

It is a very interesting part of Katowice - it has its own climate with red brick buildings. Szyb Wilson and a gallery nearby.

Katowice is probably not a touristic destination. But if you are already here I recommend to visit this unique place. It is not only an interesting piece of architecture. It's also a place, where you can meet the locals. They still use the over one hundred years old housing project. Don't forget to visit also GISZOWIEC. This is designed by... More

A beautiful and unique industrial settlement built in an architectural style characteristic for the region, originally for the workers of the Giesche mine. Not many places like that are left, therefore it's worth preserving. What I especially love is the view from above (particularly from a hot air balloon).

Great historical place. One can get a free audio guide tour (45 min), that I really recommend. The bakery on one of the central corners (at the opposite side of the photo studio) is also a very cozy place.

First time when I was in Katowice I came here, and made me fall in love. I've learned about this neighborhood and it really intrigued me. There is nothing quite like it. You feel like you're in a sort of commune and that's what it used to be, living space for mine workers. All is there from hospital to shops... More

Anytime you are in Katowice you have to go and visit this amazing piece of Silesian history. I always take my guests over to have nice walk, check out those red-brick buildings, talk some stories and have great coffee and lunch at their corner restaurant called Byfyj. Have to check it out !!!

Iconic for the beginning of 20th century. How coal mine industrials combined economic performance and better live conditions for the workers. Visit the museum and the so huge church. Visit the streets and yards with headphones lend by the museum. That's worth it to learn about the history of this community.

One of the most interesting places to visit in Katowice. It includes old brick buildings built at the beginning of previous century, interesting church, small square and museum. Use bus line 930 to visit it.
