Funny bit is - we almost missed main exposition... After you pay for tickets you are directed to temporary exhibit (absolutely a must, grab it if you can - it's about identity of post-war Gdańsk inhabitants). And it looks like that's it. There's no arrow indicating that you should go to courtyard and even if you wander there as we did you need to spot the door that leads to main exhibit (also interesting). So... very weird.

Another lovely old building I just happened to wander past in my time around town. A stunning red brick building which stands out on the street.

This is in the heart of the old town and shows some of the town's history. It has museum type displays, rooms with historic displays and staff on hand to answer questions.

Another example of stunning architecture just outside the Old Town - with plenty of other interesting places around this is definitely worth a visit.

Old Town Hall ( Katusz Starego Miasta ) is another fantastic town house located in the beautiful Old Town .
With most of the city in ruins at the end of WW2 the Old Town Hall was one of the few buildings still standing and was subsequently occupied by the Soviet command.
The Old Town Hall looks superb a ,red brick building that easily dominates the immediate area ,the building looks superb and makes for some great photographic opportunities.
Easy to locate on Ul Korzenna in an area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination.
Well worth checking out.

On the basis of an old guide book we walked into this building which is now an arts centre, and went up an impressive staircase to see a couple of rooms with heavy wooden furnishings and a tiled wall. Interesting to see these and no other tourists about.

This small but significant Old Town Hall is definitely worth a few minutes visit. The staircase, ceiling, furniture are all amazingly from the late 1500's!! (1588-1595). You only need a few minutes, but it is so worth it to pop your head in for a look. Sweet little bookshop too!

Origins date back to 1327 and, during the time in between, there have been many reconstructions. Wars, changing tastes and needs were the motivation for variations over time. Entry is free on Tuesdays and an audio guide can be rented. In its present use, it is the headquarters for the Historical Museum of Gdansk.
The building exterior is in the vicinity of the winged Mercury statue, standing on top of a finial barely big enough for his delicate foot. Mercury is splendid; he is sculpted so sensually and every muscle portrays him with one foot on the finial and lifted behind him in motion. David's got nothing on him!

Witam. Sam budynek nie jest architektonicznie przystosowany dla osób niepełnosprawnych, ze względu na zabytkowy charakter. Obsługa Ratusza chętnie udziela niezbędnej pomocy osobom niepełnosprawnym.
Pozdrawiam.
