- sjkenoWetherby, United Kingdom54 contributionsBrace yourself for an emotional rollercoaster, as you follow the ups and downs of the shipyards workers struggle. SuperbWe walked to the museum on day one of our visit, and from the outside, we were not sure if it was open, or even if it was the right place so didn’t go in. Read some reviews that evening, and went back the following day, so pleased we did. It is one of the best museums I have ever visited. Mind blowing!!! Having been in my early twenties back around the time of the solidarity movement forming, I recall how the events at the Gdańsk Shipyard were world news for weeks/ months on end. The museum took all those news headlines from my past, and like jigsaw pieces, put them all together to make a distant memory into an emotional rollercoaster as it told the story of the collective impact of the shipyard workers on the world. Not to be missed.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 December 2022
- NandCadventures23 contributionsA great place to learn about the history of poland and a great memorialIt was so interesting to learn about the history of Poland and I’m so glad I visited. I didn’t no much history while walking into this museum and found this museum so informative. We used the audio tour which came in different languages which toured us round the museum. The museum was a respectful memorial but also showed us the brutality of what happened. We took the 2.5 hour tour but there was also an option of 1.5 hour. Would recommendVisited March 2023Written 14 March 2023
- soularchFalkirk, United Kingdom183 contributionsExceptional Museum.Impressive architecture houses an excellent museum. Not only very informative, it's a very stimulating presentation of historical events in all kinds of mixed media, that is genuinely a moving and emotional story. Would recommend to anyone visiting as a must-see for Gdansk.Visited April 2023Written 6 April 2023
- mpinGreater Melbourne, Australia92 contributionsInspirational centre - wonderfully curated and not to be missed. This is a truly magnificent centre - not to be missed. Outstanding audio-guide. Easily allow 3 hours if you're into the detail of your history. At present, note the the Hall of negotiations is not part of the key building and easily missed if you're not aware it stands separately. We only found this key part of the museum as the internal museum shop is currently incomplete and attaches to the Hall.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 April 2023
- Jeff456789Bristol, United Kingdom101 contributionsGreat museumExcellent modern museum with fantastic audio guide (seems to be a great feature of many museums in Poland). Well priced and plenty to see. Opted for the longer audio guide tour at 2. 5 hours which was perfect. Building stunningVisited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 May 2023
- John CBath, United Kingdom13 contributionsSolidarity!30Zl entry, which includes a headset. The next 3 hours were a very moving, and educational experience. So much suffering, and so many brave people prepared to make a stand. An absolute must if visiting Gdansk, and make sure you do the Level 6 viewing platform. Great views over the City & the former Lenin shipyardsVisited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 30 May 2023
- Gigi175 contributionsWell worth a visit! What an interesting place this is! We walked from our hotel in the centre of Gdansk out to this impressive building. The space inside is amazing and we went for the 90 minute audio tour. There was a longer one available. The exhibition was very well organised and all information on the boards was in Polish and English. Fascinating insight into some of Poland's history. The viewing platform at the top afforded amazing views.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 July 2023

Very informative of a turbulent time in Polish history that had wider implications across the Iron Curtain countries. A lot of interesting items on display and information to read. It was a free audio guide, but I must say that the layout of the museum was quite interesting and that the audio guide did not always match what was on the wall that you could read.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 September 2023

We visited this centre the day after visiting the War Museum and it continued the Polish story up to the present day. It is a great museum both visually and in content. The audio guide is helpful and is part of the entry ticket. It is really well set out and very informative. After spending so long at the War Museum the previous day we elected to take the short version of the audio tour. We still spent much longer than the estimated duration of that tour.
The walk to the Centre is a bit further out of the old town but still a very pleasant stroll in the snow. I'd recommend you visit the Montownia food hall on your way there for an excellent breakfast at the Green Egg and be there in time for the 10 am opening.

Another must do. The importance of Poland to democracy in Europe cannot be underplayed. This is current history. The museum shows how crucial we learn the lessons from history. They are already being forgotten. The populist, authoritanian, fake news politicians and social media influencer would learn much from this. We went days after the October 23 general election in Poland. The youth of the country has proved it has not forgotten the horrors of the recent past. This place is proof of its continuing need

Absolutely fantastic! This is how a museum in 2023 should be. Interactive, lots of videos, fantastic presentation and with the audioguide in my local language (German) a great experience. The building has a beautiful architecture and how they made it possible to transport a difficult historic topic in such a light and interesting way is just outstanding. Go and see! Absolute must when in Gdansk.

Awesome place everyone must be visiting on their trip to Gdansk. Personally, I'm not a fan of audio guides but for this exhibition I highly recommend it since it is planned perfectly and the guide is interactive with the rooms. Long tour takes about 2.5-3 hours where the short one lasts 1 hour less. Nothing more, anybody who is concerned for these solidarity values would be in love with the place after the visit. Go and check here out immediately, you won't be disappointed!

Absolutely superb Museum for depth of information, presentation and interpretation. A very useful audio guide, which set up each exhibit and gave you time to explore further. An important story of huge significance, powerfully and brilliantly told. First rate! Level 6 viewing platform a bonus too, and a splendid shop.

Tried to visit, was told to wait half an hour as at capacity, there was barely anyone around, no chance they were at capacity and to top it off staff were unhelpful. I didn't wait and wish I hadn't wasted my time walking down there.
