SS Sołdek is a retired Polish coal and ore freighter and it was the first ship built in Poland after World War II and the first seagoing ship completed in Poland.
Now it is a ship museum and you cannot miss it as it is really amazing experience to visit it. Ticket only 15 PLN.

We've bought a combined ticket to Soldek and the museum. Interesting experience, nice expositions, but a big minus is having most of the texts only in Polish :(. We can understand a tiny bit (being Slovak), so it wasn't as bad as it must be for other foreigners.

Permanently docked as part of the Maritime Museum. Significant post war build in Gdansk that allows you into every nook and cranny. Good way to spend a couple of hours.

A real shame most of the information was only written in Polish.
We did admire the ship, the building of the ship and enjoyed looking around the engine room. However, would have been myxch better if more information in English was available.
I asked for help in the main museum and was given an A4 sheet, written in English,
to read. This is simply not enough information for such an important piece of Gdansk history.
However, worth going to visit, but read about the ship on google first!

Definately worth a look, but you need to check to make sure the museum is open. If you don't want to go in to the museum you can look at if from the dock side.

On the River Motława you will find one of the most famous post war ship builds in Gdansk shipyard history.
S S Soldek was a coal and ore freighter that was the first ship built post WW2,the first of 29 ships built between 1949 and 1954 when this shipyard was a hive of activity .
The ship forms part of the Maritime Museum and is a great way to learn about the history attached to Gdansk Shipyard ( Stocznia Gdanska ).
Well worth checking out.

This would be a cool visit for someone with kids or ship buffs. As a 19yo solo traveller it wasn't quite what I would've hoped for. The price was very cheap with the student discount and It is entertaining especially inside the ship. I was a little underwhelmed but not disappointed.

As a ship geek, this was amazing. All areas of the ship are accessible and you are on board as long as you want. There are some lovely views along the river.

Soldek is very important to the city of Gdansk and this shows throughout the NMM.

I really, really enjoyed it and would highly recommend.

But it is ever present in the riverscape. Found out the relevance to it and who it was named after from the Sala BHP visit so that added to it. It's berthed opposite the crane and well, you can't miss it really.
