Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

I had no idea who Tomas Garrique Masaryk was. Our tour guide may have mentioned his significance, but I did not remember, and only when going through the pictures I had taken did I research him and ultimately learned a lot, so I guess the statue earned its worth right there. If you are visiting Prague Castle, you almost can't miss the statue, so I guess you should do what I did and enhance your knowledge of Czech history.

My twin brother Stephen and I were heading to the magical Christmas market held in the grounds of Prague Castle and passed this statue in honour of Tomas Garrique Masaryk .
Tomas Garrique Masaryk ( 1850-1937 ) was a renowned politician who was a leading advocate in the reformation of the Austro - Hungarian Monarchy to a federal state ,he later became the President of Czechoslovakia ,a wonderfully detailed statue showing the great man in a rather reserved mood ,it's a great statue to check out if you're planning on visiting Prague Castle and easy to locate on Hradcany Square.

Prominent statue near the castle honoring Czech politician, statesman, sociologist, and philosopher. Masaryk was a key independence leader following WWI and served as Czechoslovakia's first president. Statue is just a statue, but represents important history.

This is a big statue in a cool square outside the castle. The guide said it was the first president of the country. It’s interesting. Not worth going out of the way for but it’s right by the castle.

Referred to simply as TGM on the plaque, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk was the first President of Czechoslovakia after its forming post WW1.
Unless he's of some relevance to you, I wouldn't go out of your way to see this statue but you may well passit if you visit Prague Castle anyway.

This monument stands in tribute to Tomas Garrique Masaryk, the first President of Czechoslovakia following the break-up of the Austro-Hungarian Empire following World War One.
This monument is a bronze sculpture of Masaryk dressed in a suit standing straight up with a rather stern face. The sculpture stands in a plinth with a plaque that does not refer to Masaryk by name, only his initials of TGM. Odd, but that’s what it shows. The statue stands opposite the Matthais Gate with sculptures of wrestling Titans. Aesthetically, the monument is okay. I wouldn’t go out of the way to see it though unless he is a hero to you, or you happen to be visiting Prague Castle.

The statue is another one in Prague. However, what makes this statue great is the view it has over Prague. Take the time to visit this statue because the view from it is stunning.

Nice monument to a beloved figure...Tomas Garrique Masaryk, the former president of Czechoslovakia. The monument is relatively easy to get to. There is also a great view of Prague near the monument.
