Neighbourhood: Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.

    Good experiance with kids
Natural Sciences & Historical Museum is worth visit for kids. Learned about the history of Europe. Good locaton, Metro is very near. Plan to visit in the late hours day, so that after the visit you can have a stroll in the main street and enjoy the evening with many vendors (food) at the opposite end of the street

Solid museum in a fantastic building
Definitely a surprising stop on our trip. We figured it would be a good museum to see so we could check out some local history. I would say it’s a little less of that and more of a natural history museum for the most part. The communism room we found to be very interesting. We did not read every board, which would have been a lot but did take in much of the details. For those of us from the US, this is a far cry from our own experiences. The main building is phenomenal with some very special architecture and you can visit the tower above the center dome. Apparently, most people missed that as there was not a lot traffic at all. A very good museum that is a nice change of pace from the rest of the old town sights.

    interesting and enjoyable
we really enjoyed this museum, there are exhibits for everyone. i personally like history so i skipped the nature parts. we bought tickets online in advance so we didn't have to wait to get in. we only left two hours for the museum and it definitely was not enough time.

    Good value
Get there early. We chose to go on a rainy day we got there early and noticed they stop people coming in at capacity. There's a clockroom downstairs with lockets which is convenient, the lockers take a 10kck coin or there's tockens available free of charge. The building itself is stunning. The way round is a but confusing at first but there is an app you can download. There's lots to see and we spent about 2 & 1/2 hours looking round. The price is reasonable for the size of the museum and how long we spent there.

Unfriendly ticket staff and poor lighting
Large Czech museum at end of Wenceslas street. Complicated entry system. We were told by guide at the entrance to buy a certain ticket to go everywhere but then found it only gave us entry to one floor ! The ticket sellers were very unhelpful and unfriendly. When I asked to exchange my ticket for a more expensive one he just brushed me away. His manner was appalling. Lighting inside is poor and often dazzles the artwork so it is hard to view. It gives a good account of the history and struggles in the 1400's but staff are very unhelpful throughout. We did however get some very good explanations from fellow visitors. For the main museum of Prague we expected it to be free or reasonable but it is expensive for what you see.

Narodni Muzeum is in my opinion one of the top European museums ,founded in 1818 by Kaspar Maria Sternberg ,over the years the museum has accumulated 14 million items ,its a superb, fascinating, interesting and thought provoking museum to enjoy and all housed in one of the most beautiful buildings in the New Town, its easy to locate on Vaclavske Namesti ( Wenceslas Square ) and well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to Prague.

I went to see the exhibition on "Baroque in Bavaria and Bohemia" and found it really interesting. Was looking for something to do in the morning before heading to the airport and I wasn't sure how it would be, judging by some of the other reviews of the museum here. But I really enjoyed it! The building itself is beautiful and the exhibition was really engaging too. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Prague to see the rest of the museum.

I went to visit expecting to finish it in about two hours but I ended up visiting after 4 hours. It's totally possible to do it in much less time, but if you like to stop to read and watch things carefully, be prepared for at least 3 and a half hours.
I was surprised by the amount of themes in the museum, since a room dedicated to the development of science instruments and national scientists to dinosaurs, minerals and war stuff...huge museum!!!

We got to the museum a bit before lunch, so our plan was to visit a bit of the museum and then come back after lunch to visit the rest. We made sure to ask the staff if we could enter, exit, and then enter with the same ticket again, and they told us it was fine, so we bought the ticket and went it. When it was time for lunch we were heading out and the staff told us that if we exit, we have to buy a new ticket to enter again. This was extremely annoying and super unprofessional. The museum itself was amazing, but this ruined our experience. Please give your staff proper training!

The Prague national museum is easily as beautiful and well presented as others I have visited. It's a great mixture of classic historical architecture and modern displays of history and the natural world. As a Taxidermist and museum restorer myself I especially enjoyed the use of original dioramas and classic casing within the natural history areas.

Really impressed with the building and its interior. Museum had lots to offer.
The link corridor from the old to the new buildings of the museum was impressive with its audio visual timeline

The National Museum is a beautiful building inside and out. The interior is opulent and gleaming with a magnificent central dome. The exhibitions were interesting and interactive with explanatory videos accompanying many of them. I found the Communist years 1948 -1960 particularly fascinating. A super way to while away an afternoon in the grandest of surroundings.

We visited the museum and saw quite a few exhibits.
We were particularly interested in the History of the 20th Century, which was nice.
We also saw the Children's Museum.

We also went upto the cupola which gives a fabulous view of the city, and a bit of the history of the museum itself.
Don't miss that.

The museum is really beautiful from outside and also from inside. I liked the room with statues of czech and slovak famous people and luminescence room. Stairway is amazing! There is also quite good souvenir shop and lovely café. You can go by elevator to dome where you can see great panoramatic view on Prague and especially on Václavské námestí. I miss some signs to the elevator/dome. Staff was not very friendly, but was helpful. We bought tickets in advance, so we didn't wait in queue. We had backpack and camera and we didn't have to pay for it or go to cloakroom. I like this museum more than Vienna natural history museum, although it has less exhibits. The ticket include also ticket to new museum (next building). Notice Palach and Zajic memorial in front of the building.
